Description of our house

Our three storey townhouse is centrally located in Dresden's restaurant and bar district, the Neustadt. Our modern, wooden floored home is south facing, with a balcony and terrace open to the garden. Our home has two bedrooms, a large playroom and atelier with ensuite, providing ample sleeping space for a couple with up to 2 children. The house is newly built with direct acess from underground parking into the basement and despite being close to the cultural centre of Dresden is very quiet due to the proximity of the park and forest. (2mins walk away). We have three bicycles which we would be happy to lend out, or for trips further afield, our car can also be included in the exchange.

Dresden is the baroque capital of Europe and home to many museums and galleries, as well as a thriving art, classical music and theatre scene. The Opera House and music venues provide concerts ranging in style from Mozert to Moby. we have good connections to the Opera house and can therefore arrange concert tickets at short notice. The apartment is located in the arts quarter of the city and home to hundreds of bar and restaurants. For those looking to get away from the bustle of the city, our apartment is also a 2 minute walk from a large woodland area, called the Dresden Heide or a 30 minute drive from Saxony Switzerland: The birthplace of rock climbing. Our apartment is located close to a tram line running into the city centre (10mins by bike- 20mins on foot), and the train station with direct links to Berlin, Leipzig, Prague, Munich and even Paris. In the city centre, The Church of our Lady, UFA Cinema, Zwinger and the newly finished military museum are some of the world's most important architectural landmarks. Dresden's location close to the border of the Czech Republic and Poland makes it a perfect base for exploring Eastern or Western Europe. ![]() Something about ourselves

We are a young, married couple working in International Education and Midwifery. We speak four languages: English, German, Spanish and Italian. Matt is originally from London and Lou is from Dresden. We have two daughters, four and one. Our free time is spent cooking with friends or visiting the wine bars within our neighborhood. Our interests include languages, meditation, hiking and climbing, diving and yoga. Most summers are spent traveling, and we have recently come back from India, California, Australia, New Zealand and Morocco. We have so far taken part in six home exchanges, and have loved every one! ![]()
