With relaxing views and many windows, it is a welcoming three-story house, overlooking the village of Kandern and the Black Forest. On the second is the kitchen, dining room, living room, bath and a large bedroom. The 3rd level, is another bath with 3 large bedrooms with views.
Every room has high-speed internet. Bicycles (youth and adult) with helmets are available for guests. Alpine trails for cycling and hiking are steps from our front door. For serious hikers: the Matterhorn is a half-day drive from our home.
We enjoy cooking and expect our guests to feel entirely at home in the kitchen.
We will be adding more pictures soon. With relaxing views and many windows, it is a welcoming three-story house, overlooking the village of Kandern and the Black Forest. Our home is in the heart of the Black Forest where France, Switzerland and Germany all share a common border. French, German and Italian are frequently heard in the markets, on the streets, and within our friendly neighborhood.
Natural hot springs were discovered here when the Romans built their first outposts. Many of their original baths are still bubbling crystal-clear waters. Our favorite is "Bad Belingen".
Local Wineries can be reached within 10 minutes, 1 to 2 hours to the Champagne region, and 3 hours to Dijon, Beaune, Burgandy region by car or train.
Autobahn freeways connect us with Basel (20 minutes), Strasbourg, Zurich and Lake Constance (1.5 hours). The French TGV travels to Paris in 3.5 hours.
Close to home, we find ourselves frequently stopping at the Farmer's Market in Kandern. Local growers will convince you their sweet potatoes are the best in Europe. When we have a need for something different, we drive 15 minutes to a nearby French neighborhood to stroll, shop and visit whatever restaurants cross our path.
