We have lived in Le Buet since 2003. Originally it was farmhouse with stables, barn and various outbuildings in over an acre of land. We renovated the farmhouse and the barn, keeping many original features, oak floors, beamed oak ceilings, unique farmer’s day bed in the kitchen, together with a grand stone fireplace and bread oven. The kitchen is fully equipped with a utility room leading off. The stylish paneled living room with a marble dining table has two French doors leading on to the patio and gardens, also included is an English TV & DVD. A galleried mezzanine on the first floor is another relaxing area, to watch French HDTV, use free broadband, read or listen to music. Two charming French style double bedrooms are situated opposite a bathroom and separate WC. A master double bedroom with its own en-suite is on the same floor. The shady garden has a stone dining table and a BBQ area, just perfect for your AL-fresco dining whilst you watch the magnificent sunset disappear over the Morvan hills. The rear garden has a terrace, ideal for sunbathing or dining under the walnut tree with lovely views over the countryside.

Our farmhouse is ideally positioned between the Morvan National Park with its many outdoor activities; walking, cycling, horse-riding, bird watching and the renowned Burgundy wine region; famous across the globe for its fine wine and gourmet food, both only 15/20 mins drive. Historic towns, such as Dijon 45 min Beaune 30 and our local medieval town Autun 15 min has a golf course and swimming pool. The beautiful Valley Ouche with its long stretches of calm canal, ancestral châteaux and picturesque villages largely unchanged through time. The countryside is beautiful, uncrowded and unspoilt, forest, rivers and lakes adorn the area with its strong cultural heritage, music, art festivals, antiques and food markets selling locally grown fresh produce are held every week in the surrounding towns. Archery is another local activity and the Chateau de Sully 2kms away is the largest stately home in Burgundy. A delightful, well recommended restaurant together with a local supermarket are only 4 kms away.

We are June & Brian and are both retired from the financial industry and we really enjoy living in France especially as it is ideal for our hobbies of cycling, running, walking, painting and enjoying the superb wine and good food of our region, also from our farmhouse we can reach the Alps or Paris within hours and in a day be down on the Mediterranean. We have two sons, both working and living in the UK with their partners and now, due to their busy lives, it is easier for us to visit them in the UK or meet up with them in different cities in Europe where they can ‘fly in’ and join us for a long weekend. Therefore on occasions there may only be the two of us, otherwise 4 or 5 travellers.

This is our first time at home exchange, having often thought about it we are now ready to do it and excited about visiting new places and not always in the tourists areas; also we have a lovely home in a charming area and would love other people to enjoy it too and have the same pleasures as we do.
