Description of our house

Our house is a cosy little house in a quiet area. There are two floors. Down, we have a sitting room with a fireplace, adjoining with a dining room, a small kitchen, 1 bedroom with a double bed. Upstairs are one bathroom, two other bedrooms, each one with single bed, in one of those we can add a spare bed to get 5 people. We have a terrace where to eat in the summer, and a small back garden with a swing. We are non smoker but you can smoke on the terrace. We have a cat "Confiture", but we can arrange to get the cat away (to relatives). We are very near of the forest as well as we are in a village _________ Nous vivons dans une maison de village ancienne dans une rue calme, qui débouche sur la forêt. Notre maison est sur plusieurs niveaux. Au niveau de la terrasse, une petite cuisine, un salon/salle à manger avec cheminée et poutres apparentes, une chambre double. Au-dessus les deux chambres des enfants (dans l'une, nous pouvons ajouter un lit d'appoint) ainsi que la salle de bains. La terrasse est agréable pour manger l'été et il y a un petit jardin avec balançoire. Nous ne fumons pas, mais vous pourrez fumer sur la terrasse. Nous avons un chat "Confiture" que nous faisons garder quand nous partons. Nous sommes à la fois dans un village et près de la forêt, des chemins de randonnées partant de notre rue.

We are in the village of Le Gua, that belongs to the Parc Régional du Vercors in the Alps, though the village is not at big heights (400m). There is a lovely waterfall 5 minutes walks from the house, and many possibilities of hiking or climbing. We are at 11 km from a very small ski resort offering many summer activities as well : http://www.col-de-larzelier.fr There are lakes in the neighbourhood, where you can swim or sail: Lac de Monteynard (11 km) Lacs de Laffrey (about 30 km). In our village, you can find a few shops: grocery, baker's, a café, a doctor and a pharmacy. We are only 3 km away from a bigger town with a supermarket and a big market once a week. Grenoble (with cultural life, and interesting museums) is at about 20 km.________ Le village du Gua fait partie du parc régional du Vercors, bien que nous ne soyions pas très haut : altitude de 400 m. Depuis chez nous, nombreuses possibilités de promenades et randonnées dans la forêt ou vers le Vercors, nous avons une très jolie cascade à 5 minutes à pied de chez nous et nous sommes à 12 km d'une toute petite station de ski familiale (le Col de l'Arzelier : http://www.col-de-larzelier.fr propose d'autres activités de moyenne montagne. Les lacs à proximité : Monteynard, 15 km, Laffrey 30 km. Notre petit village a des commerces de proximité et la ville de Vif est à 3 km. Nous sommes à 20 km au sud de Grenoble, qui offre de nombreuses activités culturelles et touristiques. Something about ourselves

We are Laurence and Fabrice and we have two girls of 15 and 11. I am a careers adviser at Grenoble university and Fabrice is a librarian (he also writes books for children). We love reading (we have lots of books in nearly every room of the house), and going to the cinema, as well as travelling. We like hiking as well, which we often do in our area. We've done 5 great exchanges so far and we like this way of travelling. We stayed in touch with some of the families we met. We'd like to discover Spain or Portugal next summer but are also interested in shorter exchanges for little school holidays in France or Europe ______ Nous sommes une famille avec deux filles de 15 et 11 ans (Alice et Zoé). Je (Laurence) travaille comme chargée d'orientation à l'université de Grenoble et Fabrice est bibliothécaire et écrit aussi des romans jeunesse. Nous aimons lire et notre maison comporte presque autant de bibliothèques que de pièces. Nous aimons aussi le cinéma, les voyages, et la randonnée (assez facile dans notre région). Nous avons fait cinq échanges très réussis en 3 ans et sommes restés en contacts avec certaines familles que nous avons pu rencontrer. Nous serions intéressés pour découvrir l'été prochain le sud de l'Europe mais aussi pour des échanges plus courts en France ou en Europe lors de petites vacances scolaires.
