Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our quaint townhouse is in a very central residential area of Montpellier. There are two separate bedrooms, but the house can sleep 6 people in 3 separate areas (1 double queen-size mezzanine bedroom on the second floor and 2 single beds on the first floor in the study; 1 bedroom with 1 double mezzanine-bed; 1 living room with a convertible double bed). The kitchen opens out onto a small courtyard which is very pleasant for dining in the long summer evenings. The house is well equipped (dishwasher, washing machine, high-speed Internet, stove/oven, fridge/freezer, microwave). We have lived here for over ten years and love the area. We have put a lot of time and effort into making our home special. We have had major interior renovations done in 2012. A tram just around the corner provides transport all over the city (direct to train station, indirect to airport and beach, with shuttle buses).

Transport without a car is very easy from our house as there is a tramway station just around the corner. 4 tramway lines make getting around the city very easy. We are on Tramway line n° 3 (just four stops direct from central train station). There are two stops you can get off at to come to our house ("Astruc" or "Arceaux"). If you're coming home after a busy day out, then get off at "Astruc" so you don't have to walk a short stretch up the hill. The "Arceaux" is convenient and is located just a short walk down Avenue de Lodève. It is also a pleasant 25-minute walk to the main square of Montpellier "place de la Comedie". Our street is quiet and we know all of the surrounding neighbours well. There is a park at the end of the street which children like. One of our favourite Saturday morning activities is popping down (5 minute walk) to the Arceaux outdoor food market. We quite often use our bikes to get around the city as well. Montpellier is a young city (~60 000 students) and many French people would like to live here in the south because of the pleasant climate and easy access to beaches (20-minute drive or tram+bus trip) or the country (1-hour drive to the Cevennes). Montpellier is just 3hrs 20mins to Paris by fast (TGV) train and there are direct flights to various cities (London (Easyjet), Birmingham, Brussels, Frankfurt, Leeds (Ryanair)). ![]() Something about ourselves
