Description of our house

Our home was built in 1511 as the carriage house for the Chateau. It has over twenty rooms, of which ten have been lovingly restored to a very high standard. We have a very large, completely updated kitchen. With granite counter tops, three separate ovens, two refrigerators (one side by side with ice maker & water dispenser), double dishwasher and underfloor heating. It also has a farmhouse table that seats 6 - 8. There is also a separate kitchen pantry with two large freezers (one chest and one upright). And, with both of us cooking, we have a very well equipped kitchen, with every conceivable kitchen/cooking gadget; which makes cooking fun and enjoyable. We have a separate lounge/dining room with lovely granite fireplace, and seating for 8 at the dining table. Outside there is a very large private paved courtyard, with covered patio/dining area and iron gates leading to a secluded garden area. There are lots of beautiful plants/bushes, fruit trees, and our herb garden, which all get watered from the well in the middle of our courtyard. From the garden you have a splendid view of the Chateau, lake and lovely rolling countryside. There is also a jacuzzi / hot tub for six on the patio. And, we also have a sauna and additional bathroom with walk in shower just off the patio area.

We live in the best of both worlds! Our house is located in town, yet our outlook is that of rolling countryside, beautiful lake, and a grand chateau. We are within easy walking distance of six restaurants, a variety of different shops, several banks, a chemist, and two fairly large supermarkets. There is also a large shopping area 10 minutes away, and Limoges is only 40 minutes away. There you can find unlimited shops, restaurants, and many interesting things to see and do. Within easy driving distance there are two golf courses, and several lakes. Our neighbors are very friendly, mostly French, but there are a few English here and there who are always willing to help with translations or information. We also have a "visitor basket" full of brochures, maps, and lots of sightseeing information. Something about ourselves

We are an English/American couple, who are very active, retired, and enjoying the "Good Life". We have seven children and seven grandchildren scattered throughout the world. We both like to cook, entertain our many friends, and meet new people. We also enjoy good food, good wine, and classical music. We have three very small female dogs (sisters) who love to travel with us. They are very gentle, well behaved, obedient, completely house trained, and do not shed. We also have two very friendly cats, who are affectionate and gentle. Our son has moved to Florida, and we would like to do an exchange there to visit them in their new home. Long Boat Key area would be perfect. As we still have many friends and family in Australia where we can stay, we would prefer not to do an exchange there. It is really beautiful in our area during the summer, so therefore we prefer not to travel during June, July or August. NO SMALL CHILDREN, PLEASE.
