NYONS is quite a small town in PROVENCE, in the South of FRANCE.
PROVENCE is well-known for its exceptional climate and its light that inspired many painters like "the Impressionists".
It is the country of the cicadas, olive trees, lavender fields, vine,
truffles and stoned perches villages.
It is a good base to visit the historic towns of Grignan, Vaison la Romaine, Orange, or Avignon with their magnificent architecture, often dating back to Roman times. All are within 1 hour drive from Nyons.
There are also beautiful sites like les Dentelles de Montmirail, le Ventoux (well known for the Tour de France Cycliste), le Lubéron, les Alpilles, les Gorges de l'Ardèche.
However you don't need to travel far, as Nyons itself has a lot to offer. There is a weekly Provencal market, an old town dating from medieval times, a lavender distillery, oil mills, wine cellars.
It is an authentic area that has kept its provencal traditions, the "Pétanque"(bowls), the pastis (aniseed flavoured aperitif) and the wine Côtes du Rhône or Côtes de Provence.
In Nyons itself you can find numerous cafés and restaurants, and also cinema.
The main airports are Marseille(1h30), Lyon(2h), Nice(3h), Nimes(1h),Avignon(1h)
In Avignon there is a TGV train station (3h from the airport Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle). NYONS is quite a small town in PROVENCE, in the South of FRANCE.

I am a retired dentist.I like travelling.I have just returned from Sydney and New Zealand (5 months= 8 swaps)
My next trip will take place during the europeen winter 2014/2015.
I am looking for swaps in West of America or Australia(Sydney and Perth). It can be non-simultaneous.I also appreciate hospitality and I prefer to stay not to far from a shopping center,or with good public transport, because I would not have a car.
