Our house is in the national Vercors park, half way between the Alpes and the south coast. We live in the heart of unspolit countryside, surrounded by mountains and rivers. Our nearest neighboors are over 100m away so the house is very tranquil.
The house is all on one level. Lounge/dining room with 3 big bay windows that look over the stunning view down the valley. 2 double bedrooms, 1 bedroom with 2 child's beds and one room that is the games room with TV/DVDs and lots and lots of toys. This can be made into a bedroom if necessary.
The nearest city to us is in the top 5 sunniest in France so in summer we spend all our time outside. Splash around in the pool, relax in the 5000m2 garden with fruit trees or enjoy a barbecue on the 250m2 wood/stone terrace that was entirely renovated in 2011. Kids will love the table tennis table, swings, slide, sand pit and tree house. Everyone will love the beautiful panoramic views. Great for families looking for a relaxing holiday. The Drome region is off the beaten tourist track. The scenery is spectacular with many quaint typically-French "villages perches" (literally "perched villages") to discover.
The area is perfect for outdoor pursuits. Walking - from a quiet country stroll to some serious mountaineering, cycling - serious cyclists will love our region as there are plenty of hills, canoeing - you can borrow our canoe, climbing, mountain biking etc. There is a golf course a couple of km from the house. A nature-lover's paradise.
Good food and drink in abundance....there is a local market to be found in a different village every day of the week. Visit the local wineries or honey producers. The local baker is 5 minutes (on foot) down the valley and sells bread straight from the oven (Tuesdays and Fridays). A 300m stroll will take you to a good restaurant that uses fresh local produce. Melissa is English and is product manager for organic raw materials for cosmetics, Christophe is French and runs the local gym. Our two careful and fun-loving daughters Camilla (7) and Rubie (2) are a mix of both.
We have two friendly donkeys who don't need any looking after as they eat the grass and drink from the river but love carrots, cuddles and being brushed.
We have done over 15 house swaps. Cleaner will come at the end of your stay and we can also arrange a cleaner during your stay if you so wish.
