Description of our house
Our home is a nice place to escape hectic and stress, but the many possibilities of the town Turku are not too far away.
Our house (214 m2 on 5000 m2) is built after the World War II by a Carelian evacuee family. It was a farm house with animals and farming. The barn still exists. We bought the house and the courtyard buildings in 2000 and started to renovate the house. Now we have modern facilities, but the house is not for strict perfectionists. Our home is simply furnished and it still has a touch of the past times.
For music-lovers a piano and other musical equipment.
We enjoy our traditional old-style Finnish sauna heated with wood.
For children a trampouline in the garden. Bikes also available.
We have a cat and we hope you could pet and feed her during your stay. In summertime she doesn't need much care. We'd love to take care of your animals!

Our neighborhoodOur house has a quiet surrounding (fields, woods), the nearest neighbourhouses are about 100 metres away. There are nice tiny roads to go walking and biking. A swimming pond 4 km away.
The situation of our home enables you to make day trips of different kind. The town TURKU (174000 inhabitants) (28 km) has a wide range of culture, points of interest and sports possibilities (www.turkutouring.fi). It takes only 25 minutes to drive there.
The idyllic seaside towns NAANTALI (23 km, www.naantalinmatkailu.fi), RAUMA (70 km) and UUSIKAUPUNKI (60km) are also worth visiting as well as the beautiful ARCHIPELAGO. Train from Turku to Finnish capitol Helsinki runs in 2 hours.
Kurjenrahka NATIONAL PARK with hiking trails ca 20 km away (www.luontoon.fi - Destinations - National Parks - Kurjenrahka)(www.kuhankuono.fi).
In winter it's possible to cross-country ski and skate.
A car is necessary, and we can discuss about the use of our two cars.
The village centre is situated 6 km away and it has main services. To the nearest tiny shop 3 km. We usually go shopping to a huge shopping center in Raisio (ca 20 km).
The church (3 km) of Nousiainen is dedicated to St. Henrik, the patron saint of Finland. The church is a destination of pilgrims.

Something about ourselvesWe are a married couple with two sons. Antti (41 years) teaches music theory at the Concervatory of Turku and he is a composer. Aija (40 years) is a church musician in an evangelical lutherian church in a countyside congregation and she also writes music critics for a newspaper.
We like our real, unpretentious life in the countryside with garden work, close to nature. We like to exercise in fresh air (jogging, hiking, biking, skiing, swimming); it would be wonderful to do it in new, beautiful landscapes!
Juho (son, born -96) plays the percussion intruments and basket ball. Tuomas (son, born -97) plays the double bass and soccer and he is also keen on fishing. Our ideal exchange destination would be in the countryside, with outside swimming possibilities in summer, and we love to take care of animals. Generally, our exchanges are bound in school holidays.
