Description of our house

Our home is a 50 year old, 4 bedroom, former farmhouse surrounded by fields and with far-reaching views, even though we are only just outside the market town of Frome, and half an hour's drive from Bath Spa. We have a half acre (2000 sq. metres)sunny garden with shrubs, trees, two ponds, greenhouse and lots of seating. Inside are polished wooden floors with rugs, and comfortable sofas and large windows looking out to the fields and hills beyond. The sitting room has a wood-burner to supplement the central heating and is very cosy in winter. We have a flat screen TV in the sitting room. In the day/dining room is our main dining table and also comfortable chairs looking out on the garden and the view beyond. The kitchen is a good size, and has just been modernised (September 2011 )with new oven,hob and extractor fan, a central island and freestanding units combined with fitted cupboards. We have an office on the ground floor as well as a conservatory both of which look out on the large back garden and formal pond and fountain. At the end of the garden is the vegetable patch and wildlife pond and an arbour to sit and relax.

We are half a mile (1km)outside the historic market town of Frome http://www.frome-tc.gov.uk and only fifteen miles (23km) from the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath Spa http://visitbath.co.uk . Frome has deservedly become more of a tourist site in recent years, dating back as it does to the Middle Ages, its old buildings now also complemented by interesting shops and art galleries, and excellent coffee shops. We are Willm and Judy, in our mid-sixties. Willm manages a research unit at the University of Bath, and is semi-retired, while Judy has now retired completely with more time to garden and plan home exchanges. We have lived in Frome for over twenty-five years and love all that the area has to offer. We are experienced exchangers, 17 so far over fourteen years - in Australia, the US, Canada, the UK and Spain. We are open to offers in Europe or the UK (particularly in or near York). We have family in Michigan and will be going to our great-niece's high school graduation there in 2013 so it would be great to incorporate that within an exchange. We have a dream to visit New England in the Fall too. Willm's family is Australian and we go there regularly although as we went in 2011 we don't have immediate plans to go again. We respond to all emails and are very happy to answer queries and provide more photographs. We like to make use of the Home Exchange agreement provided on the site to finalise agreements.
