Description of our house

![]() ]
Our home is a terraced house in a residential street; it is cosy, comfortable and characterful. There are two sitting rooms, one with T.V. and C.D. player, one with a fireplace and a comfortable double sofabed. Our kitchen opens onto a dining area which in turn opens onto a terrace overlooking open meadow land. Upstairs is a double bedroom, a study/studio with internet acces, and a bathroom. Someone comes in each week for two hours to help keep it clean. You may be better without a car in Oxford as we are near the city centre and public transport is good, but we can leave parking permits for parking in the street if needed.

Our home is in the centre of Oxford - in ten minutes you can walk into the historic part of the city - but it backs onto meadows and a park. The park has tennis courts, a lake and an open air swimming pool (summer only). It's a quiet neighbourhood, near to the river Thames (lovely walks) and yet close to shops, restaurants, gardens, galleries and museums. The Oxford Colleges are beautiful, the nearest to us is Christchurch, only ten minutes walk. We have bicycles you can use if you like to explore in that way. It's easy to get to London, regular trains take an hour, by bus it takes a little longer. Also in easy reach are Bath, Stratdford-on-Avon, the Cotswold villages, Blenheim Palace and Woodstock. Something about ourselves

We are Tony and Sue: Tony happily retired from University teaching, Sue has her own business but will retire next year. In Oxford we enjoy walking and cycling (there are lots of green spaces) as well as going to concerts, festivals and the theatre. We go frequently to London for the day or evening, generally using the train as it is very cheap when booked in advance. We both love to travel and there are many places in Europe we would like to explore - and other places we'd like to return to.We like cultural or historic cities or countryside where we can walk. Now we have more time we like to travel by train to Europe where possible, we have travelled through France, Italy and Spain on good fast trains. We have done some informal home exchanges which have worked out well, it's a great way to really get the sense of another country, so now we hope to do some formal exchanges through this site. ![]()
