Our home is a spacious converted barn, consisting of a kitchen/dining room with high quality fittings and appliances, There is a dining hall, a computer room with lots of books. A conservatory garden room with views over the courtyard and patio area where we enjoy the barbecue, outside seating and an fish pond. We have a large modern living room with a flat screen tv and wood burner. There are four double bedrooms, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor.
The feature of the barn are the vaulted ceilings and the gallery landing with views over the open countryside to sit and watch the sun go down. Outside, as well as the courtyard there is a large garden laid to lawn with fruit trees and swings and a slide for the grandchildren !
We also have a small cottage (The Stables) opposite the barn which has two bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathroom. We lived in the Stables whilst converting the barn, but now it is just used occasionally for friends. Our home is not really in a town it sits way back at the edge of a pretty english village, just over one mile to our nearest town of Acle, which has all the usual amenities. We have lovely walks and drives around the house and really good pubs in most surrounding villages.
Norwich is a picturesque market city (population 300,000) steeped in history. The cathedral and castle both date from the 11th Century. We are just 10 miles from the city centre which is bustling and vibrant with shopping galore, quality cafes and restaurants, arts and architecture.Something for everyone in fact. From cobbled streets and Tudor houses to the latest shopping mall experience city lovers will not be disappointed. London is only 1h 50 mins away by train, Cambridge an hour and 10 mins and the rural and coastal calm and tranquility of north Norfolk, with some lovely short or longer walks (and birdwatching opportunities), is also very accessible. We love living here and feel sure that you will enjoy your stay here too as it offers a great way to experience this lovely and historic area of England. See http://www.visitnorwich.co.uk for more of a feel. We are Ceri and John, a married couple in our early 50's. John is a Police Officer and Ceri is a Civil Servant. We love to travel and we have done several home exchanges in the past. We have always found it to be a fantastic way to travel and have met some lovely people.
We would prefer to arrange an exchange in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers.
Normally John and I travel just the the two of us, But sometimes we also like to travel with our daughter and her family. We have worked hard to convert the barn into a lovely home and we would respect your home as we do our own. We are Ceri and John, a married couple in our early 50's.
