Description of our house
Our house is a beautiful Victorian family home with character. There are five bedrooms, three bathrooms and two separate WCs, a courtyard garden with small upraised pond and lawns at the front with off-road parking. Three of the bedrooms have double (or king size)beds, the two other (double) bedrooms have single beds in them and sofabeds for sleepovers. We can sleep a lot of people. There is a separate utility room for laundry, digital TV in three rooms, and hifis in five of the rooms. There is wireless connection for the internet. The house has three storeys, four if you count the cellar. The floorboards downstairs have been stripped, and the kitchen has a stone tiled floor. The fireplace in the living room is used every winter. The house was one of five built in 1850. We have lived here for 3 years and it is a great family home. Two cars available for use.

Our neighborhoodOur house is situated on a very quiet road, off a main road. Heathside Road itself has hardly any traffic, and is very quiet, yet it is only a twenty minute walk from the centre of Norwich, a beautiful medieval city with a lots of shops and restaurants, and historic buildings. Fifteen minutes walk in the other direction brings you to the village of Thorpe St Andrew, situated on the river, and offering several characterful old English pubs and restaurants serving excellent food in an idyllic riverside setting. Whittlingham Broad, a lake offering windsurfing,motorboat racing and swimming is 2 miles away (5 mins by car). Half an hour's drive brings you to the coast, and fine sandy beaches, or to the famous Norfolk Broads. There are many activities available, such as sailing, windsurfing, fishing, horse-riding, golf and so on.
For those who want to venture further afield, London is under two hours away by car or train, and Cambridge is 50 mins by car or train. The house is a ten minute walk from the Victorian train station, and five minutes walk from the football stadium and retail park which includes a swimming pool. Ten minutes walk away is Riverside, an area which offers a cinema, a bowling alley and several night clubs and chain restaurants.

Something about ourselvesMy name is Glyn and I have three children - Carys is 22, Christian is 16 and Eve is 3, so quite an age range! They are all considerate and careful. I am a language teacher, teaching French and German at high school. I love travelling, and have lived in France, Germany and New Zealand. I've been meaning to join this site for a while as I think it's a brilliant idea, and a great way to get around more. We love animals and would be happy to look after any pets. Looking forward to successful swaps.
