Dating from 1545 and the reign of Henry VIII, the historic Royal Arsenal comprises listed Georgian & Victorian buildings. Many artifacts are positioned throughout the development and you can learn about its history at the Greenwich Heritage Centre and the Royal Artillery Museum (Firepower) onsite.
Our building is adjacent to the Thames River and it's gated courtyard encompassing several historic buildings is considered the premier location in the development.
Within metres of the apartment you will find the Couture Food Hall, Wellington Park, Cafe of the Firepower: Royal Artillery Museum (special tours available for our guests), and the Young's Gastro Pub at Historic Dial Arch (birthplace of the Arsenal Football Club). There is also a Tesco's supermarket onsite.
It is quick, easy and comfortable to take the train, DLR or Thames Clipper River Boat into Greenwich/O2, Canary Wharf, Cannon St., Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Embankment, Charing Cross, London Eye, Waterloo, Westminster and Victoria Stations or Piers/Central London. Your bonus will be unique and breathtaking views of many of London's most famous and recognisible landmarks from the comfort of your own seat (unlike the crowded underground). And you'll be dropped within a short walk or double-decker bus ride of all the London sites and attractions you'll want to visit.
Locally Woolwich has a lively, authentic street market and shopping precinct. On the waterfront is a swimming and racquet sports centre, and the Thames River Path will take you past the Woolwich Free Ferry, famous Thames Barrier on to Royal Greenwich (Maritime Museum, Observatory, Park & Cutty Sark), the O2 (restaurants, concerts, cinema, exhibitions, theatre), Canary Wharf and beyond. The world's oldest Golf Club, the Royal Blackheath is a short drive or bus ride away and welcomes visitors. The club museum, arguably the world's best, houses the world's oldest golfing medal and England's oldest golf club. Eltham Palace, the childhood home of King Henry VIII is across the street from the Royal Blackheath.
Woolwich and the Royal Borough of Greenwich are also Olympic venues. Dating from 1545 and the reign of Henry VIII, the historic Royal Arsenal comprises listed Georgian & Victorian buildings. My husband Tim and I, Andrea have three children--two girls ages 15 & 12 and a son who is 7. Tim works for an international consumer products company and I for a nonprofit. We have lived as expats for most of our lives calling multiple European countries & America "home". We purchased our London apartment to have a permanent place to call "home" and feel rooted, but also because London is such a fabulous and easy city to experience, whatever your age or interest. There is always something new to do or a favourite place to see again. As a family, we love to travel and experience new places, meet new people, learn new ways of doing things and new perspectives. Recognising all the time just how connected our world really is. We also hope exchanging homes will enable us to visit and show our children the places we and they come from since we have lived such a transient life. So our interest may be not in visiting a new place but in returning to an old favourite. My husband Tim and I, Andrea have three children--two girls ages 15 & 12 and a son who is 7.
