Description of our house
Our home is very clean and comfortable, and decorated to a very high standard. We have three bedrooms two double rooms each with a double bed, one bedroom has a view of the garden the other has a sea view. The small third bedroom is used as a TV/computer room. Very comfortable lounge with panoramic sea views. Dining kitchen with a full sized dining table, plus breakfast bar,this room has french windows that open onto a small balcony with chairs and table, again with sea views. The kitchen has all modern conveniences execept a dishwasher, but rubber gloves are provided! Small laundry housing freezer, tumble dryer and washing machine. Good sized conservatory overlooking the back garden. The bathroom consists of toilet, washbasin, full sized bath, and large walk in shower with seat. We also have a small cloakroom with toilet and washbasin. The house is extremely light, airy and very sunny. The rear garden is fully south facing and is very well landscaped with plenty of garden furniture and a small garden room. There is large decking area which has table and chairs to dine on, again sea views are from this area.
We do not accept, children, pets or smokers.
We do offer car exchange if required.

Our neighborhoodThe area is very quiet, but just a short distance away is a major tourist resort, and there is certainly something for everyone. We have two nearby beaches, one about 5 minutes walk away and the other about seven minutes walk away. Our local pub is an 11th century manor house, and is just a short walk across the golf course. The golf club house is about 7 minutes walk away. There are many lovely walks around here, coastal or countryside, and also the wild and wonderful Dartmoor. Historical cities, quaint fishing harbours, small picturesque thatched Devon villages, historical houses and gardens. Whatever your interests are you will find it here. Devon is known for it's gentle rolling hills and wonderful countryside. If you wish you can also visit Cornwall just one hours easy drive away.We are situated in Churston, near to Torquay (home of the 1920's crimewriter Agatha Christie), which is known as the English Riviera and is well known for having the best weather in the UK. We even grow palm trees here! Our summers are usually long and quite warm, winters are mild. If during your stay here you wish to visit mainland Europe there are many companies that do short packages, or you can go by ferry from Plymouth. Exeter airport have a low cost airline www.flybe.com that goes to many places including Ireland.If you fly into Gatwick you can catch the shuttle to Plymouth www.airsouthwest.com or take the train or coach. From America you can also now fly into Bristol, 2 hours drive away.

Something about ourselvesGeorge is a very young 71, and Maggi is 61. We are both retired accountants, we moved to Devon for a slower pace of life, retiring early 15 years ago.
We enjoy travelling and have now completed 20 exchanges all have been great,and all have been very different. Because we are retired we are very flexible on dates and length of stay. But if we travel to America we like at least 4-5 weeks due to the time taken to get there. We enjoy historical places, George especially enjoyes learning about the native Amercian Indians. We are both very active and enjoy walking, cycling and swimming. The main thing we enjoy about exchanging is going into a home that has all the comforts of home and living amoungst "real" people, and getting to know areas that may not be as well known as others. We are both non smokers and do not accept children, pets or smokers in our home.
