Winslow is a small, old market town. There are plenty of local shops within 3 minutes walk, in the High St, which also has several restaurants and pubs, post office, pharmacy and a couple of specialist shops. There is a small market every Wednesday and a larger Farmers' Market once a month.
Charming Buckingham is 5 miles away. Milton Keynes, which boasts a snow dome and multiple entertainment and shopping facilities, is a mere 11 miles away, as is Aylesbury. Both offer fast train and bus connections to London ( 40 miles), Birmingham (70 miles),Oxford (30 miles).The picturesque Cotswolds and Bicester Village (a huge shopping outlet) are within half an hour's drive.
Opportunities to lap up cultural, entertainment and gastronomic experiences are close at hand.

I am a retired pharmacist, about to venture to Australia for the first time. My son, his wife and 8 year old daughter settled in Perth a year ago. Although I intend to travel around a bit and, of course, explore Perth, I would like to visit Sydney straight after Christmas in Perth. I am already on Sydney Opera House's e-mailing list and want to come over with son & co straight after Christmas for a few days into the New Year. Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks have always been a draw!
