Maidenhead is situated on the beautiful River Thames and is an ideal base for exploring a multitude of fascinating towns and villages in lovely countryside. We are a half hour drive from London Heathrow Airport, about 20 minutes from Windsor with the historic castle, 35 minutes by train to London, and about an hour from the wonderful town of Oxford. The beautiful Cotswolds are a good destination for a day trip,as is Stonehenge or Stratford -Upon-Avon.
In the immediate vicinity there are great walks and boat trips along the Thames, some of the best restaurants in the country, and lovely villages to visit. Maidenhead is a small town with good amenities. There are many places to eat and to shop for food and a good leisure centre and cinema. We are Anne and Dennis. We are now both retired, although doing some consultancy work.(I used to teach 4-5 year olds and Den was a food technologist working for a large biscuit company.) We are in our early 60s.
We both enjoy interesting places, walking, beautiful scenery, and good food.I enjoy art and photography and Den is very interested in classic cars.
We have had five very successful exchanges and are now keen to travel as much as possible, if we can fit it in with our busy lives! We can supply references from previous exchanges on request.
I have an elderly mother who does not like to be left for long(although she is in a lovely residential home) so the maximum length of an exchange can only be about 2 and a half weeks.
We have one very sweet tabby cat called Crumble. We would ideally love it if you could feed her.(A neighbour will happily take over if you go off for a couple of days.) However we are happy to put her in a cattery if necessary.
We will take very good care of your home and are happy to look after cats, fish etc.and to water your garden.
We have a wealth of information about the area to share with you and will be very happy to advise you of the best places to visit if necessary. Looking forward to making new friends!
