Description of our house

Our condo is just the right size for us and our 2 miniature pinchers. It's big enough to have everything we need, but small enough that it's easy to take care of. The floors are porcelain and the finishes are all Ecuadorian wood, including the kitchen and bathroom counter tops. The bedroom has a king bed and flat-screen TV. The master bath has a jacuzzi tub with shower. There are 2 sofa beds in the living area and a half bath for guests. We enjoy sitting or using the hammock on the terrace. We love to watch the tide and stroll across the street to walk along the beach with our dogs. The condo has an 8-person hot tub on the roof with panoramic views of the city, the Pacific Ocean, the Chone River and the coastal ranges. There's also a sauna, exercise room, and an exercise pool. The building also has a back-up generator and it's own desalination plant. There are boogie boards and snorkels and fins in the condo for your use.

Bahia de Caraquez is a slow-paced city of about 30,000 inhabitants. ![]() Something about ourselves

My husband and I retired to Latin America almost 9 years ago. He is a retired professor of anthropology and I am a retired cartographer. Our interest in birds what what originally attracted us to Ecuador (1600+ species). We taught English in Cuenca, Ecuador for 2 years and created a small school -- Escuelita Amistad -- on our rural property in the Yunguilla Valley to teach English to the campesinos. In Bahia, we enjoy the friendly local people and their efforts at preserving the environment (there is a new recycling center and the first mangrove friendly shrimp farm was created nearby). Bahia de Caraquez has been a good place from which to explore other parts of the lovely Ecuador coast parts of this amazingly diverse country to explore. ![]()
