Description of our house

Our home is a three storey townhouse from 1887. It is part of a very charming area in Vesterbro, Copenhagen called Humleby. Humleby is a small city within the city, a neighborhood originally built for employees of the B&W shipping company and Carlsberg brewery by architect Frederick Bøttger in year 1884-95 ("Humle" is Danish for hops, the scent of which could be felt weekly in the streets of Humleby until Carslberg relocated its production of beer just a few years ago). At the time of construction, the architecture was intended to suit the needs of the working family and the houses were shared by two to three families.

Humleby is situated on the outskirts of Vesterbro, which is part of Copenhagen. Vesterbro can be characterized as a family friendly bohemian part of town with an equal amount distribution of playgrounds, art galleries, restaurants and cafés. Vesterbro is home to Copenhagen's meat packing district which houses trendy bars, restaurants (among others Fiskebaren which is part of the wave of Nordic Cuisine restaurants, along with restaurant Herman, also located in Vesterbro, and Noma) and art galleries. We are a family of four, Lykke 34 (Danish) and Markus 33 (Swedish) and our lovely boys Max 3 and Alfred 1. We hope that from the description of our house and its surroundings, you can see that we love our home, Humleby and Vesterbro! And we sincerely hope that you will see the same charm that we do! In our spare time, we enjoy travelling and most things food-related.
