Our house is on the island of Amager in the southern section of central Copenhagen, 900 m from the Baltic Sea and extensive beaches with all types of sea sport activities: kayak, kite-surfing, canoe, diving, beach volley, open air concerts etc. There are buses just around the corner that take you anywhere in the city and the Metro (900 m away) either of which will, in no time at all, have you in Tivoli, the central pedestrian street, City Hall, the Royal Theatre, the Canals of Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid, Restaurant Noma, the New Opera House on one harbor bank and the Royal Library's magnificent 'Black Diamond' on the other. Copenhagen Airport is less than 5 minutes away by car or two stops on the Metro (no noise from either means of transportation). Every street has bike lanes, and there are three adult bikes and one teenage bike in the garage.

The house is from 1926 and has the charm of old wooden floors, French doors and –best of all—the large small-pane windows allowing the light to flood in from all corners. We have had it renovated and re-decorated in 2011, using organic materials only. There is a lovely and very private south-facing garden with tall trees and lots of roses.

On the ground floor there are four rooms en suite: the kitchen, at one end, opens onto a large dining room with a fireplace; an old-fashioned veranda (which serves as a small study); and the living room with large bay windows. Both the dining room and living room comfortably seat 8 people. The main entrance hall also leads to the first floor with a large bathroom and three bedrooms: one large room (currently inhabited by our teenage daughter) and two smaller rooms, one with a balcony, both with alcove recesses sheltering a double bed.
