Description of our house
This is a simply furnished holiday flat with a distant sea view. Despite being located just off the High Street in the Old Town of Paphos, it's a suprisingly quiet and relaxing flat.
There's one double bed in the main bedroom, a double bed settee in the second bedroom, and a single bed sofa in the sitting room. There are spacious built-in cupboards in both bedrooms. It has a small bathroom with shower, and an open plan kitchen. It's well stocked with things like cutlery and crockery. The balcony is big enough for four people to eat on.
Though there is a television, we do not have cable or satellite, neither is there internet connection or a phone. There's a public phone box close to the flat. There is no air conditioning, but as the flat is on a hill there's usually a nice through breeze, or you can close the wooden shutters in the height of summer - I've never found the heat a problem there. If you hire a car (optional) there is unallocated parking below the flats.
Friends and relatives who have been there have always enjoyed it and had a good time.

Our neighborhoodIdeally located if you'd like a holiday by the sea, but not in a sea side resort. The beach is about 15-20 minutes walk away (5 mins by car), but the flat is in the Old Town of Paphos. You will be close to the old market where local people bring farming produce and sell lace, jewelry etc. If your prefer more modern shops, Marks and Spencer's is just next door.
Busses and taxis are available about 2 minutes walk away. If you don't hire a car, you can use these to get to the beach very easily. Or, you can take well organized coach tours to other parts of Cyprus.
There's plenty to do and see in Paphos. The Roman remains by the Old Port are superb, and there are ancient tombs too. Of course, there's good food and a thriving night life down by the sea. For more details see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paphos

Something about ourselvesWe are both English teachers. Norman in his 70s (seen in the photo) and Valerie in her mid 50's (about to retire). We like to come home to the UK (from Hong Kong where we live) via Europe in the summer. We love Germany, Austria and the Netherlands, but would welcome an exchange in any European/Scandinavian country during the summer. A shorter exchange during the winter (Chinse New Year) would also be possible - please tempt us.
Currently looking for an exchange in UK approx. 30th December to Jan 4th or 5th 2009 for 3 people (a married couple and single adult).
