LaSalle borough is half way between P.E. Trudeau International Airport and downtown (8.5 miles or 13km either way). Just one block away from the St-Lawrence river, it feels like you are in the countryside. Enjoy the beautiful des Rapides Park (bird preservation area), roller blade, river rafting, surfing (yes, we have one wave just enough to surf), or visit Montreal and its surroundings by bike. There are approximately 500km of bike paths on the island of Montreal. You may easily bike to the Old Port, to Jean Drapeau Park or if you are more daring take a ferry boat from Lachine to Chateauguay and visit the south shore. Within walking distance, there are two supermarkets, a cinema, a few restaurants, ATMs, churches, hospital, buses to the metro (subway). In Montreal, both official languages (Frenh/ English) are widely spoken, however if you travel outside Montreal within the province of Quebec, some knowledge of French may be useful. Television, radio and local newspapers are available in both languages. Montreal is a very lively city with many restaurants for all tastes and budgets, also galleries, museums, old churches, Expo67 site, Olympic stadium, many shopping areas. Summer is festival time with the Mondial Choral, Just for laugh, Francofolies, Festival International de Jazz, World Film Festival, Festival TransAmérique and Fireworks competition. Also the Grand Prix du Canada is in Montreal in June. ![]() Something about ourselves

I am an active 56 years old, semi retired who loves to travel, occasionally with a friend. I like outdoor activities and being close to the city. I speak French and English fluently as well as some Spanish. I look forward to find exchange partners with similar tastes who want to enjoy the summer in Montreal. I am looking for swaps of approximately 4 weeks in Aug and Sep 2012 for Europe. Shorter swaps would be fine throughout the year within U.S. or Canada. I will take care of your house as if it were mine. ![]()
