Our home would be a great base from which to see the sights of Southern Ontario or Western New York. After a day sightseeing in bustling Toronto or scenic Niagara Falls, viewing world-class theatre in Stratford or the Shaw Festival (Niagara-on-the-Lake), thrilling to pro sports (baseball's Blue Jays, hockey's Leafs or basketball's Raptors), or cross-border shopping in Buffalo, you would have just an hour's drive or a short commuter train ride to a bright, fully updated bungalow with comfortable beds (one queen, one full/double, one double sofa bed), modern bathrooms, a newly renovated kitchen and comfy sofas. You can end your day sitting on our front porch or back garden, enjoying the canopy of trees, the song of birds and the peace and quiet, or dig in to our extensive and eclectic music collection or the all-sports digital cable package on TV. All hardwood, laminate or ceramic floors (good for those with allergies, though we do have a two long-haired but well-behaved and friendly cats - see more below).

We are five minutes' walk from Lake Ontario and a gorgeous estate with the water's edge open to the public, and 15 minutes' drive from the Burlington waterfront, which has a sandy beach, promenade, restaurants, etc. We are three minutes from the commuter train station that goes into Toronto hourly, much more frequently at rush hours. Any personal shopping you would need to do is conveniently close by -- a grocery store, two pharmacies, banking and video rentals within five minutes. We are no more than an hour's drive from three international airports (Toronto Pearson, Hamilton Munro, Buffalo). Recent visitors from England were thrilled to visit a nearby park and have chickadees and chipmunks eat nuts from their outstretched palms.

We are "cat people" so our exchangers would have to be comfortable and happy to care for our two long-haired cats. In return, we would be happy to care for any pets you might have. We are also empty-nesters, with two grown children who live nearby on their own. Paul works as a director of human resources, and Lauraine works part-time and as a volunteer in the community. We very much enjoyed our two exchanges to England in 2009 and 2011. would be looking to be away from home for about two weeks but could extend this for the right offer. We promise to respond to all inquiries.
