Description of our house

Our second home is located next door to our home on Buckshot Lake. We purchased it this four years ago as an investment. We planned to rent it as well as exchange it while we waited for the value to quadruple. A couple of weeks said the agent. Buckshot Lake is about two hours west of Ottawa and three and a half east of Toronto. The main floor of the house has a living/dining area, master bedroom with queen bed, kitchen, three season sunroom and a four-piece bath. On the second floor, there are two bedrooms, one with twin beds and one with a queen bed, and a four-piece bath. All bedrooms have ceiling fans. In the basement are a recreation room and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. On the front, facing the lake, is a large deck with a propane barbeque. For those rainy days, there is satellite TV, DVD, and VCR on the main floor and a TV with VCR in the recreation room along with a large number of books, games and puzzles. To keep in touch, we have high speed satellite internet.

The lake is about five kilometres long and one and half wide. Mostly spring fed it always tests in the highest category. Over one third of the lake is public land which provides great places to paddle to, have a picnic and swim. From the house and the deck there is a great view of the lake. Loons, the Canadian sound of wilderness, can be heard throughout the evening. When the leaves change in the fall, the colours are bright reds, oranges and yellows. Two canoes are included with life jackets and a dock in front of the cottage where you can tie up. The lake has bass, pickerel, and trout. Our shoreline is a pebbly beach and the water is quite shallow for about 10 metres. There is a swim raft for diving. If you enjoy winter activities; snow shoeing, skating, and cross country skiing, this is the place for you. Downhill skiing at Calabogie Peaks is just 76 km away. In Plevna, about a ten minute drive, is a grocery store, post office, DVD and VHS rentals, ATM, restaurant, gas, and mini putt. In addition there is a Liquor Store, hardware store and bait shops. There are many small towns closely by with antique shops, outdoor markets, country fairs, restaurants and museums. Provincial parks with nature walks, hiking, and Indian writing are within one hour drive. A few day trips are Prince Edward County wine district, Rideau Canal--World Heritage site, Kingston--first Capital of Canada. Use of a car is included. Something about ourselves

We are Marg and Chuck. Marg is a retired teacher and I retired from Canada Post. (No more “My kid can’t spell and the postman is walking across my lawn”) Our son is married and has left the nest. We have travelled extensively and have done twelve exchanges. The exchanges have been among our favourite trips because of the advantages of a house and a car but especially because of the relationship you build with your exchange partners. We are very interested in simultaneous or nonsimultaneous exchanges. If you are interested in a simultaneous exchange we would gladly send information and photos regarding our primary lakefront residence. Also we own two automobiles as well. A non-simultaneous exchange would enable us to meet our partners and show off our wonderful country. We are not available for exchanges in July and August.
