Our home is a newer bungalow style residence located overlooking Shediac Bay. We have two comfortable bedrooms, both with new queen-sized beds, with a convertible futon located in the den/office. The home is perfect for entertaining with a fully equipped, gourmet quality kitchen with a large butcher block preparation counter top island with bar seating for exhausted sous-chefs, or critics. The kitchen, dining area, and living room are all open concept in one fabulous great-room. Surround sound stereo and large screen TV/Satellite will keep you entertained. High speed, wireless internet both at home, and on your dock across the street at the Shediac Bay Yacht Club, will ensure you can keep in touch. From the great-room you will enjoy a view of the bay, and on our newly completed, elevated outdoor deck you will lose most obstructions to your view. Our back garden will provide an outdoor space suitable for BBQ and lounging. Carole's outdoor living space now includes a huge studio and wood terrace. Enjoy days on the upper deck, and in the evening, sit around the fire pit, or retire into the studio. We really enjoy our back garden terrace. We have a midsized car, a pick-up truck, suitable for towing a caravan (camper) if you like, and bicycles available. Heating is in-floor radiant type, made even more cozy by the modern and efficient fireplace. In 2010, we have installed AC/heat pumps for energy efficent climate control in the home. We have recently comleted an extensive flooring and kitchen renovation. We would love to exchange also our 9m/30ft CS30 sailing yacht to qualified sailors, or provide instruction if our exchange is nonsimultaneous. She is fun, fast, and easy to sail. Don't know how? Why not learn with us.

Shediac is a small, bilingual community, celebrating both French-Acadian and English Canadian cultures with pride. The population increases significantly during the summer months with the famous Parlee Beach Provincial Park a short bike ride away. Our street is a quiet one running parallel to Shediac Bay. There is a sports field and playground equipment just beyond our backyard fence. The Shediac Bay Yacht Club is located across the street, with a large green space in between. The neighbourhood is very quiet and safe for children, with nearly as much foot traffic as vehicles. You will enjoy sunsets from the deck outdoors, or from the dining table either in the house, on the terrace, or in the studio. New tennis courts are several blocks walk away. The Yacht Club facilities, where you will be welcomed as our guests, include BBQ and dining tables on the deck at the Clubhouse overlooking the marina's 160 yachts. Our modest club, established in 1933, now with new docks and breakwater is also home to the well known Shediac Bay Sailing School. Watch your children race on the bay from the Club, or the deck at the home. You will be free to to visit many nearby sites while knowing your children are safe in the hands of our qualified sailing school instructors. Ages 9-12 is perfect. Cost for sailing school? $100 per child, including boats for a whole week! Instant friends for your child! By car, visit the Boutouche Dunes, Hopewell Cape Rocks, two National parks. Via Confederation Bridge or sailboat visit Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. A short drive towards the Bay of Fundy, visit St. Martins and explore the beach caves at low tide. Try kayaking at high tide at one of several locations. Drive down to Nova Scotia for a day trip to the famous Joggins Fossil Cliffs (studied by Darwin), then on to Cape Chignecto, Cape d'Or, and Five Islands for more great views of the Bay of Fundy. We will help with suggestions for great day trips. See it all! Wine tasting in Nova Scotia? Try the well known Jost Vinyards and sample their excellent selection of Canadian wine. if you fancy staying on our yacht while you get sailing lessons, that could be arranged. Get the full experience of living aboard a yacht in a safe harbour with your personal instructor ready to sail with you. Such an experience would be in exchange for a stay at your home on a non simultaneous basis.

Carole and Mark, aged 46 and 56. Carole is Acadienne,(French speaking) and is a Social Worker. Mark, who's first language is English (pas de chicanne dans la cabane), is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer, and IPA member. We both love to travel and have had 10 successful exchanges to date, including last summer to Huntington Beach California, and this winter, Calderitas, Mexico. We are avid sailors having plied the warm, safe, sheltered waters of the Northumberland Strait for 15 years. Have also sailed BVIs, Australia, New Zealand, and would love to sail, or boat 'chez-vous'. As a Police Boat Operator, Mark is also experienced/licensed for power boat operation. We are non smokers who will treat your home, boat, car etc as if it was our own and we would have every confidence that you would exercise similar care. House keeper available. We can provide references from exchanges in Holland,GER,USA,UK,France,Croatia, Mexico who have exchanged homes with us, or have enjoyed our hospitality, Carole's cooking, and Mark's sailing excursions, lessons and humorous stories. We can help with websites, maps and other useful information, particularly for the yachtsmen. Spiral staircase to new elevated deck. Outdoor kitchen completed summer 2010. Landscaping projects in 2012. Kitchen and flooring renovations in 2013. We will happily respond to ALL emails, and are glad to discuss future possibilities. Can offer travel advice and weblinks for this region upon request. We are just back from the Yucatan on our last exchange adventure. We do plan well in advance so, email us, and lets start planning for the future! Our plans for the winter of 2013 are completed and in the spring we will be in Florida as part of non-sim exchange. If you decide to exchange with us, we will do our very best to ensure that we all have a positive experience.
Mark is an excellent sailing instructor and if our exchange is non-simultaneous, then we can help build your sailing experience and confidence. You will learn, laugh, and relax on Shediac Bay and beyond. We welcome non-simultaneous suggestions. We would like to add another exchange to a planned journey to Australia, possibly and NZ. So far, we have two exchanges in the 'bank' for Oz, so if you can do a non-simultaneous exchange, and dream of visiting Atlantic Canada, we will help your dreams come true. Europe is always of interest to us. Any where warm and friendly. Give us a try! We'll teach you how to sail, even if you are from NZ or Oz where they already know how to sail better than Canadians.. Possibly.
