This is our Vancouver escape to the coast when we need a change from the beautiful Rocky Mountains. It is a spacious one bed apartment in the heart of Vancouver with walking access to most of the downtown sites - Coal Harbour, Stanley Park, Enlgish Bay or downtown shopping. Outside our door we have shops, restaurants, local fruit stalls, Saturday farmers market, and a little further afield Granville Island which has everything! We have bikes if you want to venture further without having to drive and there are lots of bike trails and bike lanes. There is train and bus access from the Airport and the ferries and we also have secure underground parking. It is our home away from home.

Vancouver is a vibrant west coast city - think San Francisco north - with access to beaches, sailing, gardens, parks, hiking, shopping, theaters, markets and many bike trails. We are within walking distance of Stanley Park, English Bay, downtown, Yaletown, Granville Island, False Creek and anywhere else in the downtown precinct you would like to go - China Town, theatres, shopping. Within Vancouver, take the bathtub ferries to Granville Island, the Science Centre or the casino; or the Lonsdale ferry to North Vancouver. There are also many easy day or overnight trips from Vancouver: by ferry to Vancouver Island and all the other beautiful Gulf Islands, or to the Sunshine Coast with all its hidden treasures; by car or bus to Whistler,White Rock or Seattle. We are a semi-retired couple who like to travel when we are not working. I am an environmental consultant and my husband is a tax consultant. We live in Calgary and Canmore, Alberta and have grand children in Vancouver and Sydney, Australia, so these are two of our favorite destinations. We also love to go to Europe in the fall, and Africa and South America are on our 'to do' list. We have had two very successful exchanges, and are looking forward to many more. As well as our apartment in Vancouver, we have a townhouse in Canmore, Alberta in the Rocky Mountains which is also available for a house exchange.
