Our home is a ten minute walk to the ocean or to the Galloping Goose 55 km trail that runs from downtown Victoria, BC, past our home at 35 km mark, and up past Sooke Potholes. World-class hiking is nearby at East Sooke Regional Park, and the Juan de Fuca marine trail. The location is excellent for hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, whale watching, surfing, and beach combing. There is ocean swimming within approximately a ten minute drive, and a lovely lake for swimming about a 20 minute bike ride from the house. We are a 15 minute drive to the town of Sooke with all essential services, and 40 minutes to downtown Victoria. A 20 minute drive takes you to the suburb of Langford with extensive shopping and other services. Victoria is arguably the most beautiful city in Canada, with mild winters (rarely is there snow) and lovely moderate sunny summers. ![]() Something about ourselves

We are a couple in our mid-fifties. Judy is a retired college professor and Ted is a semi-retired professor of tourism in Victoria. We are especially interested in warm climates in winter, nordic ski destinations in winter, and prefer areas with good hiking and/or cycling. We have done four previous home exchanges, and have references available if you request. We have two lovely cats who require a few minutes of attention each day, and are happy to take care of cats and/or dogs as arranged. Judy has experience as a pet-sitter, and has references available for pet care. We prefer rural or smaller centres, although we do have some interest in a few select bigger cities (eg. New York, Portland Oregon). We love folk, bluegrass and celtic music, so would love to visit areas with good live music of those types. We have recently purchased a home in Green Valley, Arizona so we can do non-simultaneous exchanges as well, or perhaps even offer that home once we have done a bit more work to furnish it. ![]()
