Description of our house
Our house is a 5 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2000 sq ft home on almost an acre. Situated on a hillside overlooking the ocean and the gulf islands between Vancouver Island and the mainland, A short walk from one of the best beaches on the island. Our home is very kid friendly with cable, high speed internet, a piano, a trampoline and a volley ball/badminton court. The main bathroom has a jacuzzi bath with a view of the ocean. We plan to use one bedroom as storage for our personal things, leaving 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed and a deck. Twin beds in two others and a single room give sleeping for 7-8, but it would be easy to extend that to 10 if it was required. WE HAVE ARRANGED AN EXCHANGE FOR 2008, WE ARE OPEN TO EXCHANGES BEGINNING IN 2009. THANKS

Our neighborhoodSalt Spring island is the largest of the southern Gulf Islands, The town of Ganges ( 10 minutes away) is it's main centre. Kayaking, sailing, fishing and hiking are some of it's most popular activities. Salt Spring is renowned for it's artists, musicians and crafts. There is a local theatre "Artspring" that has quite a famous summer festival. (www.artspring.ca) There are many fine restaurants, a cinema, two golf courses and live music most evenings.
Vancouver is only 20 minutes away by sea-plane and 1.5 hours by ferry. which makes Salt Spring a great base from which to explore Vancouver and Vancouver Island.

Something about ourselvesMy name is Ronan, I am a single father with 4 mostly grown children. Shawna, 23, Kyla 17, Sara 16, and Gaelen 12. I run an alternate energy company on Salt Spring that specializes in solar, wind power and micro hydro. We are looking for a place near the beach in Spain or southern France that will act as a base for us as we explore the region. Or a place in or near London.
This is our first try at house exchange but I am already planning for the next years... Maybe you would like to go to the 2010 winter olympics... while we go to say New Zealand? Tahiti?..
