We are downsizing and moving to a 2 bed 2 bath luxury condo in the spring 0f 2017. No exchanges until then.
Our new home as of the spring of 2017. will be a 20th floor upscale condo with world class water views of the Fraser River and mountains including the iconic Mount Baker.
Located on the eastern tip of Lulu Island. It is in New Westminster but is close to Richmond and the Vancouver International Airport.
We also have a cottage located under 2 hours from Richmond (which is sometimes included in an exchange).
Port Royal although part of New Westminster is actual closer geographically to Richmond. Our neighbourhood has all the necessary shopping amenities and a Casino as well. We have a walking path along the Fraser River .
Richmond is the home of the Vancouver International Airport and the 2010 Olympic Speed Skating Oval. A multi-faceted community historically based on farming and fishing it has transitioned into a multi-cultural city with strong Pacific Rim influences. New Westminster was the original capital of BC. Both are located on Lulu Island in the middle of the Fraser River. Downtown Vancouver is 35 minutes away and Whistler is about 2 hours away. Ferries to Vancouver Island are 20 minutes and the US border about 20 minutes.
Our neighborhood is called Port Royal and is a planned community of condos and single family homes.
I am Gary, a 67 year old retired IT manager. Janice also worked in IT and retired in early 2012. We are avid gardeners and volunteers. We love to travel both with home exchanges and our 17 Ft Bigfoot trailer. We have done 11 exchanges to date and look forward to many more. Still lots of destinations on the bucket list.
We have a daughter living in the UK so Europe is an attractive destination for us when it comes to exchanges. Travel plans are all booked up through spring 2017 already but looking forward to 2018 and 19.
