Description of our house

'The Best Place on Earth' is the motto of our province British Columbia, and indeed it is true. My home is located in the quiet mountainside village of Lions Bay in West Vancouver. The private views of the ocean, forest and mountains from the 500 foot elevation above the ocean are spectacular. This renovated modern home has a large kitchen, dining room, sunken living room with HD TV, master bedroom with ensuite bathroom, all with a view of the ocean. The second bedroom looks out onto a small courtyard, and the third bedroom has a pullout chesterfield and computer. A large deck overlooks the ocean and garden, and has a hot tub. A workroom, storage room and laundry room are in the downstairs area. There is a small downstairs private apartment with a single older female tenant who is very quiet and helpful for local information.

My home is located in the village of Lions Bay, a village in West Vancouver, BC, just 20 minutes from the city of Vancouver by 4 lane highway and 60 minutes south of the resort village of Whistler, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. The 1800 metre high mountains that reach up behind our home have many trails for hiking, as does the village itself. A tennis court is a short walk down the street, while 2 wonderful beaches are found at the ocean level in our village (2 kms down the hill). The small village centre has a store, restaurant and art gallery, while the main shopping centre is 20 minutes away in West Vancouver. The city of Vancouver, across the Lions Gate bridge from West Vancouver, is a large multicultural city of 2 million people with many attractions including parks, art galleries, museums, restaurants, universities, beaches and more. Also, 10 minutes south of Lions Bay at Horseshoe Bay are the main ferry terminals for travel to Vancouver Island, another wonderful location to visit ocean beaches, the capital city of Victoria and a national park. A visit to the village of Lions Bay means having a quiet restful stay just outside Vancouver but with ready access to many tourist attractions. Walking, hiking, golf, tennis, cycling, swimming, kayaking and just about anything one could imagine are close by. Skiing at world renowned Whistler or on the Vancouver north shore mountains (30 minutes away), followed by a soak in our hot tub, is an ideal way to add to a visit to Vancouver, British Columbia. A car is required in order to visit the many sights in our vicinity easily. ![]() Something about ourselves

I am a retired teacher of secondary science and university teaching, who enjoy the outdoors through activities such as hiking, kayaking, skiing and cycling as well as travel and adventure. I am a non-smoker as well as responsible and meticulous about care of both my home and someone else's home. I am recently widowed but my wife and I completed wonderful exchanges to Paris, Vienna, New York City, Mexico, England, Utah, Rio de Janeiro and Boulder, Co. I would like to do further exchanges, as they were so much fun and would consider local closer exchanges, including of British Columbia, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, and California for a few weeks. Non-simulataneous exchanges are possible. ![]()
