Our home is a less than 5 minute drive to the South Common shopping area, featuring an Ikea, Walmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, Grocery stores and over 100 outlet stores.
West Edmonton Mall is the largest mall in Canada and one of the largest in North America, it offers the following attractions: a skating rink, mini golf courses and a go-kart track, Galaxyland theme park and the West Edmonton Mall World Waterpark, as well as submarine rides and Sea Lion show. It has many fantastic restaurants throughout. Shop at it's 800+ stores.
Whyte Avenue, located on the south side of Edmonton, and Jasper Avenue, in the downtown core, offer - a multitude of dance clubs, restaurants, shops and pubs for an enjoyable evening out.
Only a 3 1/2 hour drive west of the city, is the monumental landmark, Jasper, where the Canadian Rockies begin. While there, tour the town, ski Marmot Basin, go white water rafting, or take a nature walk and see some wild life (like a moose or a black bear). Then, continue your drive to the Columbian Ice fields where you can hike up an actual glacier.
South of the city 4 hours is Banff National Park, another landmark town that sees tourists year round from all over the world. Here, you can enjoy the same amenities as Jasper, but on a grander scale. Ski Lake Louise or visit the historic Banff Springs Hotel, known for its spa and spectacular views!
