The neighbourhood is a rather quiet part of Antwerp, Wilrijk with very good connections to the city center. You can take a bus across the house, a car or even go by bycicle. It takes only 10 minutes by car or bus. Antwerp is an international city and famous for its old medieval citycenter with the diamond shops, the musea,chinatown, the river de Schelde (with a beach in summer) and the harbour with all kind of cruises. A lot of restaurants, shops (especially at the Meir an the Keyserlei), theatres and an excellent nightlife are avaliable. There are also very nice parks and a very special big Zoo. Trendy quarters are "Het Zuid", "Het Eilandje" and the Quarter Latin. Whole year around there is a lot to do, in summer a lot of mostly free festivals, in winter the christmas-market and at new year a very big fireworkshow at the Schelde. The surrounding villages have their own festivals in summer. These festivals are visited by the whole population of Belgians, despite their age. You can also bike very well through and around Antwerp on special made bike-paths. The villages around Antwerp are beautiful. From our house you can go in a short while (by bike or car) to the country. From Antwerp you can travel very easy to Brussels, Gent, Brugge, the Belgian, French or Dutch coast, Holland, England,Germany or Luxembourg. You can reach all this destinations within 1 to 3 hours. Paris and Amsterdam in apr. 2 hours.
Very nearby our house you can find a nice green square where you can let your children play safely.

We always like to provide as much recent information as possible. If you have special interests like markets, the great war, antique, festivals, restaurants etc. we can give you inside information. We helped last years our guests with all of this.

Our neighbours are very nice people who are always willing to help our guests too. They have already been organizing taxi's, doctors, restaurants, shopping information etc. They also speak english and french.

Belgium is a wunderfull country, the people are friendly and polite. They always try to help you. Most of them speak at least french or english.
The Belgians like a burgundian way of life, they love good food and wine. The Belgian beer and genevers are worldfamous. They are still made in little breweries you can visit.

Antwerp is a gem with a beautiful centre, a lot of restaurants and pubs. Like a smaller, cozier Paris but not so expensive.

Henri and Anke married with 2 children, Dirkjan (28) and Mathilde (25). Sometimes one of them with partner travels with us. We have 3 lovely small dogs ( like the black & white whiskey doggies), and we would like to take them with us if possible. So only when we travel by car in Europe. They are well trained and behave themselves very well, you don't have to be afraid of problems. But we also have family members that can watch the dogs for us if needed. We live in the Netherlands between The Hague and Amsterdam. We have our own business in legal and tax advice. We can travel whenever we want. Of course non-simulteneous exchange is possible. We alsways respond on every e-mail because I am also very disappointed when I don't get an answer.
