Description of our house

![]() ]
Built around 1890, my townhouse is approximately 250 square meters (2600 square feet) over 4 floors. Locally the building style is referred to as a "gentleman's house". It is beautiful, with many of the original features still intact: marble entry way, 20 foot ceilings, wood floors, leaded glass windows in the living room and library, French doors opening onto a (tiny) terrace overlooking the street. The house has been completely remodeled/redecorated and now has a new kitchen and modern baths. There is a small, walled garden behind the house.

My house is in the city of Antwerp, 20-30 minutes' walking distance from downtown which includes the tourist area and the business district, as well as the central train station. Within 5 or 10 minutes' walk are a number of museums including the Antwerp Royal Fine Arts Museum and many cafes and restaurants. My immediate surrounding neighborhood is a mixture of residential and commercial, with the old Antwerp Courthouse and the resultant lawyers' offices as the primary businesses. Living on a side street of Antwerp's main road into the city center, public transportation is easily accessible. The location is ideal, within easy reach of everything that Antwerp has to offer and centrally located for trips to Brussels, Ghent, Bruges and other places in Belgium. Something about ourselves

I'm an American in my early 60s and have been living in Belgium for 20+ years. Originally I came here to work for a Johnson & Johnson company, but a while ago decided to see what else life has to offer. So now I give English lessons and am taking things a lot easier. I travel with my Belgian friend/partner, Ivo (pronounced E-voh), a retired language teacher in his early 60s. We have done several house swaps and are enthusiastic about doing more. ![]()
