Description of our house

Our home is a federation style Californian Bungalow from the 1950's with renovations and then some more modern fittings. It is free standing on a 700m2 block. It has Leadlight doors and polished floor boards (jarrah) through most the house. It has two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (both with bath and shower). One office (computer with WIFI). There is another sitting area with couch (that folds out to a bed). We have gardens front and back with trees and shade and a mains gas barbecue (no bottled gas needed). The gardens are reticulated (automatic watering). The well appointed kitchen is open plan with a breakfast bench and dining table. The kitchen has a large walk in pantry with a double fridge freezer. The dining room opens into a glassed conservatory (green shade cloth on it for the summer) which then opens onto the front deck space. There is a small library and a lounge room with a 50" TV (no 'cable'). There is air conditioning, gas heating and monitored alarm system. The garage (2 cars - optional) has an automatic door and space for more cars. The house is our home and therefore we have lots of photos from our travels.

Our house is in Wembley, Perth Western Australia (go to Google map and put in our address Marlow Street) To the West 4km we have miles of beaches. Floreat Beach and City Beach(http://www.cambridge.wa.gov.au local and Cottesloe to the south towards Fremantle. We are 2 km from Bold Park and 4 kms from the Perth City and Kings Park (http://www.bgpa.wa.gov.au Within 2km we have a 36 hole Public Golf course (http://www.wembleygolf.com.au Lake Monger and a bird sanctuary (feed the black swans) a large shopping complex and Subiaco shopping district. Close by (local shops <1km) include a Pub, family food hall, coffee shops, bakery, grocery store, restaurants, police station, petrol station, post office, travel agent, etc. There are many cycle paths around Perth and we have two bikes to offer. Public transport to the city is fast by bus. Driving a car in Perth compared to most large cities is a dream. Something about ourselves

Helen and Garry are both academic Professors, 50yrs no children and do not smoke. We travel a lot and have been to about 50 countries in the past 30 years. We try to travel every year - for up to 3 weeks at a time ? yes we still both work. We have some gold fish in the backyard pond but they are well trained and look after themselves. We are always looking for a couple of weeks away over Christmas - to trade the sun and blue skies ? for something different. We are also available other times of the year when we have some international work or conferences. We are happy to consider house swap for short period or a hospitality exchange (couple). Unfortunately we only speak English ? but we are happy for you to email us to make contact.
