Description of our house
[
![]() ]
Our beach house is double storied and has cork floors in the entertaining areas and carpeted bedrooms and is designed to optimise the magnificent views of the bay. It is cosy and comfortable and lends itself to outdoor living or cosy jigsaws in winter. There is a pot belly wood fired heater and there is plenty of stored wood in the garden. The garden is mostly native peppermint trees and grevillea and attracts New Holland honeyeaters, blue wrens and black cockatoos. We love to sit on the verandah in the glassed in shelter, listen to the waves crash below and drink the local red wine for which our area is famous. During the whale season it is not uncommon to see the whales breaching right in front of the house. We mostly sit on the verandah which if furnished with an L-shaped couch for lazy reading or viewing.

Our home is situated in the small town of Augusta which is 40km south of Margaret River. The Margaret River area has a well established reputation for good wines, excellent beaches and wonderful walks and scenery. There is good surfing, wind surfing, kite surfing, fishing, diving. We do a lot of walking and the beaches and karri forests are splendid for this as there is abundant bird life too. We see whales and their calves in the bay from our verandah in the season and dolphins either in front of the house or nearby on our river walk as the Blackwood River estuary is about a 10 minute walk from the house. It is a popular windsurfing spot because of the winds at certain times of year. You would need a car to explore the region which is one of Australia's premier tourist areas. ![]() Something about ourselves
[
![]() ]
We are a retired couple in our early 60's. Tim worked in Human Resources and Jenny was a Maths teacher. We love hiking in the English countryside, adore the Greek islands, France and have had fantastic holidays in Italy. We are very flexible on timing, non-simultaneous swaps and are open to suggestions from all parts of the world as we love travelling and are curious about many countries. We relish the opportunity to live in a community for a while rather than the frenetic moving around of our earlier travelling years. ![]()
