Our two bed-room and study two storey apartment is brand new, and located on the beach at suburban Hampton, 16 km from the city of
Melbourne. It is a complex of 70 apartments and penthouses, secure, and featuring an indoor heated 25 m. pool and spa, and a gymnasium. Large screen LED TV, books and internet provide indoor entertainment, while the 100 m. walk to the clean and safe beach provides a venue for swimming, walking, or even fishing if that is your interest. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, (with a wall-mounted HD TV in bedroom 2) The courtyard area has a small garden, with an automated watering system and a gas barbecue. An eight-seat outdoor setting completes this area. Public transport in Melbourne is excellent, and we are an easy 10 minute walk from a suburban rail station that will have you in the centre of Melbourne in 20 minutes. Additionally, it is a great stepping-off point for travel to other Australian icons, such as the Great Barrier Reef, Uluru in the centre of Australia, and of course Sydney, the home of the 2000 Olympics, a mere 1.5 hours by plane from Melbourne. Hampton is 16 km from the city of Melbourne, and is very well serviced as a community with libraries, sporting ovals, lawn bowls clubs, childrens' playgrounds, a large yachting marina within 15 minutes walk, and a similar distance will take you to one of Melbourne's best strip shopping areas, with supermarket,health, food, liquor, bakeries, delicatessens, fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, travel, fashion and many small coffee shops. Something for everyone! You can be at one of Melbourne's safest swimming beaches within 5 minutes of leaving the apartment, and even if you are not a swimmer, there are walking and cycling paths right along the beachfront which can take you into the city if you feel like it. (We can provide his and hers bicycles for two) There are a number of restaurants at differing ends of the spending scale within easy walking distance from the apartment. We are Kaye and Jeff, a recently retired married couple of over 46 years. Kaye's retirement as a well-respected landscape artist was brought about by ill-health, while Jeff's business career in industrial relations was always going to have a use-by date. We both enjoy travel and have recently returned from Europe. Unfortunately, not a home exchange, but we see exchanges as a way to keep our travel aspirations going, while providing an opportunity for exchangers to experience what Australia has to offer.
