Visitors keep telling us that Melbourne is the friendliest and most sophisticated city in Australia. We would love to help you to discover why.

Our relaxed apartment is in the best part of the City to enjoy all that Melbourne has to offer. Our area is quiet and our building is safe and secure but within easy walking distance of restaurants, galleries, theatres and concert halls. Trams travelling in eight different directions pass right by our front door and if you cross the road, you have acres of gardens to explore or simply relax in. On a warm summer night, you might even find an outdoor cinema or a performance of Shakespeare under the stars. Let us help you to have a great Australian holiday.

If we cannot swap with you there may be the opportunity to offer some short stay hospitality as our second bedroom, with ensuite and TV, is sometimes, available. We prefer not to have children stay at our apartment, but depending on their age, one child may be possible,

To help during your stay we provide two mobile phones programmed with key numbers, and two MYKI cards for public transport.(You can add whatever value you like in Australian dollars when you arrive.) And if there's something special you want to experience while you're here such as an Aussie Rules football game, a day at the races or an evening of music, we'll do our best to help you organise tickets.

At the corner of our block you will find bikes to rent cheaply and two car share companies. (Or we may be able to do a car swap. )You need to pay a small membership fee for each of these to access their very cheap rental rates. You can even rent by the hour. ( If you wish to join before you leave home, you can have your membership cards sent to our address)

Our apartment is in a solidly build 1950s building which was redeveloped as apartments about 10 years ago. There are two bedrooms and each has its own bathroom and toilet. The beds have top quality mattresses so you will be very comfortable.

We don't have air conditioning as we are on the sheltered side of our building and seldom need it. Electric heaters help remove any winter chill, but again, they are not often needed.

Our kitchen has top quality appliances and visitors are welcome to use anything in our pantry. But if you don't want to cook at all, don't worry - there is great selection restaurants close by and ten minutes away in the City.

Our home is relaxed and our building is friendly with a building manager who ensures comfort and safety for all residents.

We take pride in our home and ask you to take care of it as we will take care of yours. We also want you to be relaxed while you're here, as we know we will be in your home.

Our apartment is directly opposite Melbourne's magnificent Kings Domain and Botanic Gardens. All the city's major arts and sporting venues are within walking distance and our famous trams are right at your front door.

Our apartment has everything you would want for a wonderful holiday in Melbourne. It is in a lovely building in a very good part of the City. The street - St Kilda Road - is often described as a boulevard and is quiet, with no noisy late night venues to bother you.

You can enjoy beautiful morning and evening walks in the Botanic Gardens or take a picnic rug, bottle of wine and sit all day under one of the magnificent trees.

Melbourne is also ideally placed if you want to explore the world heritage wilderness areas of Tasmania, Australia's island state. It's about an hour by air or a day by ferry. Hire a car for a week and you can cover the whole island.

You can also easily travel on to our near neighbour New Zealand from Melbourne. Melbourne airport is easy to access from the City and NZ is about a 3 1/2 hour flight away.

We have both now crossed the 60 threshold. Paul is retired science teacher. Irene recently retired from full time work as an arts fundraiser but still doing a little consulting. We love being hospitable and sharing our city with visitors and we hope to make new friends as well as visiting new places. We'd love to have your help in finding interesting things to do in your area and we'll do the same for you.

We have just returned from 2 weeks in Paris and ten days in St Malo, taking our total exchanges to 5. It should have been six swaps but in 2012 while in Chile and on our way to a 4 week swap in Patagonia, I fell over and broke my ankle forcing us to return home.

In 2013 we wil be completing an exchange with a wonderful couple from Victoria Island, British Columbia, Canada who visited Melbourne earlier this year. We'll be looking to add interesting extras on to this trip especially Alaska or the Yukon. We're open to other suggestions.

We have traveled to several Asian cities and would love to see more, and also to return to some old favourites such as New Zealand.
