Description of our house

![]() ]
Our home is located in Battery Point, Hobart's historic precinct. The house was built in 1880s and includes many period features, but is light and airy and has been modernised for comfortable, elegant, easy living. The large main bedroom with queen bed has a panoramic view of Mt Wellington, Sandy Bay, Mt Nelson and the Derwent River and an ensuite with bath. The second bedroom with double bed at the front of the house has a small sunroom, as well as an ensuite bathroom. The home has a dining room adjoining the kitchen, and a sitting room adjoining the lounge room creating a convenient flow-through. There is a separate toilet downstairs. The lounge area has a large flat screen TV, and wifi is available. The front courtyard garden and rear terrace provide relaxing areas for dining or reading. There is room for car parking at the rear of the house.

Battery Point has first class cafes and restaurants and historic Salamanca Place is a popular area for shopping and browsing fine art galleries. The docks, the beachside suburb of Sandy Bay, and the city centre are close by. Walking around the area with its fascinating old homes and gardens is a favourite activity of tourists. There are numerous parks in the vicinity and the starting points for tours to Bruny Island, Peppermint Bay, Port Arthur and the ferry to the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) are within easy walking distance. The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the Theatre Royal and the Botanical Gardens are a 15-25 min walk away. Mt Wellington provides opportunities for bush walking and mountain biking. Further afield the Huon Valley, East coast and Tasman Peninsula have vineyards, surfing, fishing, diving and spectacular landscapes to explore. Our home in Battery Point provides an ideal base to see everything Hobart and southern Tasmania has to offer. ![]() Something about ourselves

We are a retired and semi-retired professional couple, Carol and Tony, who would love to exchange our home with couples or small families. Tony was in IT and I am a part-time writer and editor. We have a self-sufficient cat (Jack) so we would welcome an exchange that included looking after him as well as our home. Needless to say, we are happy to look after the pets of our exchange partners. ![]()
