This very quiet town house complex has views and access to the Tamar River with extensive walking/cycling trails to and through the city of Launceston and the Cataract Gorge. There are two restaurants within a 100 metres. Shopping and fuel are also available close by.
The greater Launceston area has a population of 100,000 in the state's population of 500,000 - this being the second largest city in Tasmania; and offers a significant heritage history from settlement in 1806 as the third town populated by European settlers in Australia.
World rated Barnbougle Dunes & Lost Farm Golf Links at Bridport is just over an hour's drive and is available for public use. Riverside Golf Club is about 600m from the villa and there are several more Golf Courses within a 15 minute drive.
The Tamar Valley is well know for tourism, particularly cool climate wines, Sea hHorse and Playtypus House, Beaconsfield Gold mine, and golf. The area is known for its beautiful scenery. There are several National Parks nearby and around the state of Tasmania. Launceston is in a central Tasmanian location with the North West Coast (Cradle Mountain and Stanley) within a couple of hours drive. It is also possible to visit the North East, East Coast (Bay of Fires) and Hobart for a return day trip.
We also have a beach house - http://www.colesbayretreat.com (Freycinet National Park) that may offer a second stop over option for exchange – This property is a two hour drive from Launceston. There is a restaurant within 100m and two larger eating places within a 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive. Three beaches are nearby and there are excellent walking tracks around the bays and into the Freycinet and Friendly Beaches National Parks, including access to the famous Wineglass Bay - a world rated beach. Most visitors just spend time in the house or on the deck admiring the spectacular views, including the sunrises and sunsets! We are two recently retired professionals in our early sixties (non smokers), have two grown children and hope to travel extensively over the next few years both within Australia and overseas.
In Sept/Oct 2012, we are travelling to Europe, staying in France, Spain and the UK.
As we have two houses, we are able to do non-mutual exchanges, although Coles Bay is very popular and generally heavily booked during summer, and may not be available.
Our interests include scuba diving, fishing and boating, travel and most out door activities such as gardening, walking, caravanning, sailing and swimming.
We are a quiet responsible couple who will respect you home and leave it in an excellent condition and hope you will do the same with ours.
We look forward to hearing from you.
