Our house is a post-war home (built 1947), and there are 3 bedrooms upstairs. The main bedroom has a double bed, large built in wardrobe and has air-conditioner. The upstairs bathroom has a combined shower/bath. There is another room downstairs that is used as a 4th bedroom and has a single bed, and there is a second shower/WC. We also use this as a TV/kids play room.
The lounge room has a three seater couch and is air-conditioned. The second bedroom has a single bed and a large built-in wardrobe. The 3rd bedroom is also a study. We have high speed (100Mbps) cable internet connection. The kitchen area is generous in size, with family size fridge, Microwave Oven, Stove and pantry.
Outside, there is a very large deck (64 sqm) with a family size BBQ and Table Tennis table. The deck area is perfect for outside entertaining.
The laundry is downstairs and has a Bosch washing machine and a dryer.
Outside there is a large reasonably level play area with a large trampoline.
We have a couple of bikes that we could lend whilst you explore the local area. Our house is a post-war home (built 1947), and there are 3 bedrooms upstairs. We live in Bardon an inner suburb of Brisbane, Australia located approximately 5 km west of the Brisbane CBD. Bardon is a leafy residential suburb, much of which nestles into the foothills of Mount Coot-tha ( http://en.wikipedia.org
We are very close to a bus stop and there are regular bus services to the City and surrounding areas. There are plenty of opportunities for cycling to explore the city, Southbank Parklands, local restaurants and meseum/theatres and mountain biking in nearby Mount coot-tha.
From Brisbane it is approx. 30 min drive north to Redcliffe (beach) or 45mins south to Gold Coast for ocean swimming. You could also venture further afield and go to Noosa, Byron Bay, and even down to Sydney.
We are open to exchanging our car (we have a 5 seater Toyota RAV4 Automatic) and the car is 4 years old and is well maintained. We are fun loving, young at heart family of 3 - Adrian (42), Melanie (39) and our beautiful daughter Jasmine (9).
We completed our first home exchange in France (July/Aug 2012) and had a fantastic experience. We were lucky enough to organise 2 exchanges on the one trip. The first exchange was with a lovely family in the village of Bohas (near Bourg-en-Bresse). The second exchange was in Saint Ouen (Paris). We would be happy to give you references from the families that we exchanged with.
We are open to hospitality (home stay) for a short period aswell - please contact us to discuss.
Adrian works for an IT company in the city, and on the weekends is either cycling, Mountain Biking or Football (Soccer) Refereeing. Melanie is a part-time librarian at the University of Queensland and is keen on doing anything active and outdoors. Jasmine is in grade 4 at the local school (Rainworth), loves learning Italian (and the occassional bit of French) and is also a keen cyclist.
