Deagon is in the picturesque and sleepy bayside suburb of Sandgate. Our house is easy walking distance to the beach on moreton bay, nearby lagoons, creeks and rivers, childrens playgrounds, walking tracks and bikeways, youth club and skate park. Right across the street is a huge green expanse with sporting fields and tennis courts. Sunset over the the Shorncliffe Pier is an amazing sight well worth watching, perhaps over a drink or meal at one of the seaside hotels such as the Full Moon Hotel or the Seaview Hotel which also host live entertainment.

We are less than a minute's drive to the Gateway Motorway and other main arterial roads heading North (Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Glass House Mountains, Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo etc) & South (Gold Coast, Surfer's Paradise, Theme Parks - Wet and Wild, Dreamworld etc). We are 15 mins drive from Brisbane airport. The bus to the city and surrounding areas leaves right outside our front door. Our house is a 10 minute walk to the local train station and the train goes to Brisbane city centre (half an hour away), or you can transfer en-route to the express Airtrain connection.

Sandgate enjoys sweeping views to the east over Moreton Bay to Moreton Island and north to Woody Point on the Redcliffe Peninsula. When you visit Sandgate you feel like you are stepping in to a different place and time with its historic buildings and bayside charm. You can enjoy the fresh sea breezes and panoramic views of the bay with beautiful shady picnic grounds and walkways. This village by the sea makes a great weekend escape for the whole family.

Sandgate is also renowned for its thriving artistic and cultural community with many local theatre groups, artists, and musicians living and performing in the area. There are many community and performing arts events and festivals held at Sandgate each year including the Bluewater Festival, Einbunpin Festival, the Unplugged Cafe and Music By The Sea.

Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia with a population of around 1.6 million in the greater metropolitan area. Brisbane is a river city making full use of its enviable environment. The Brisbane River winds gently through the city and serves as a delightful way to explore the area. And there is so much to explore. A day in Brisbane might include international standard shopping in the Queen Street Mall; a swim, rainforest walk and lunch at South Bank Parklands; feeding dolphins at Tangalooma, then in the evening dine in world class restaurants and finish with a late night river cruise.

But there's more! Take some time to discover the Botanical Gardens, take an enchanting stroll through Fortitude Valley and Chinatown and a cruise out to the Bay Islands. Make a tour of the Castlemaine Perkins Brewery which makes the famous XXXX brand. No visit is complete without a visit to Suncorp Stadium home of the Brisbane Broncos and The Gabba Cricket Ground where Australia did get beaten by England... in 1986. (sorry folks...that's Rosie's most humourous little addition there...Steve :))

Brisbane has a subtropical climate with temperatures ranging between 20-29 C (68-84 F) in summer and a very pleasant 9-20 C (48-68 F) in winter. Brisbane has an average annual rainfall of approximately 1150 millimetres (45inches) and 242 glorious days a year of sunshine. Standard time zone for Brisbane is UTC/GMT +10 hours. Please note there is no daylight saving in Queensland.
