Description of our house
My home is set in a quiet leafy suburb less than a 30 minute bus ride to the CBD. The only noise comes from the wildlife, including cockatoos, galahs and possums. The well-equipped kitchen, dining and living rooms are open plan, with timber floor and plantation shutters, opening onto the very private courtyard. The bedrooms are spacious and light, as are the bathrooms. The third bedroom is used as an office, and contains a full size single bed. It is in a complex of 30 townhouses, and overlooks the pool with tennis court nearby. There are security and insect screens on all windows and doors. My friends among the neighbours are happy to welcome visitors and offer any assistance you may need.

Brisbane is an easy-going livable city with a winter daytime temperature that rarely falls below 18 degrees C. My home is a 5 minute walk to the bus stop from which express buses leave every 15 minutes, and terminate at South Bank, a very popular attraction to locals and tourists. The man-made beach and lagoon are very inviting, and it's free. My suburb is adjacent to Brisbane Forest Park which contains walking trails and picnic areas. This area leads into Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious, both of which offer rain forest walking tracks complete with paddy-melons (small wallabies)and magnificent parrots in the early morning and later afternoon. It is about an hour's drive north to the Sunshine Coast and Australia Zoo, or south to the Gold Coast, Movie World, Wet'n'Wild, Dream World and Sea World.
Something about ourselves
I am a retired school teacher, and while I will be travelling alone I expect to have visitors to stay often, one at a time. My hobbies are cooking, reading, socializing and travelling. My daughter lives about a 5 minute drive away and will be happy to offer assistance when asked. I have enjoyed some great exchanges in England and Ireland and have met many wonderful people. I am happy to consider long term exchanges.
