Four years ago we visited Mission Beach for the first time and we fell in love with this beautiful unspoiled village. We bought a piece of land and build this house which is just finished (july 08). It is a good place for relaxing. The living area is on the first floor so you can enjoy the view and feel the seabreeze there. Having breakfast or diner on the verandah, hearing the sea and the tropical birds you dont need anything more. It is a real spectacle to see the skydyvers landing with their parachutes on the beach just in front of the house. There are three bedrooms with kingsize beds. One on the firstfloor with ensuite. On the groundfloor are the other two bedrooms. They share a bathroom. On the grounfloor is also the laundry.

Our neighborhood
There are three villages along the 15 km coast of Mission Beach. North Mission Beach is a village with some shops, restaurants, galerys etc. Our house is in Wongaling Beach. It is the middle village. Here is the police office, the school and the brandnew Woolworths. There are also some shops, an internetcafe and some restaurants. A Thai and a Greech restaurant are around our corner. In South Mission Beach are no shops but you can rent boats there. In Wongaling Beach goes a watertaxi every day to Dunk Island, a place where cruise ships are staying for the night. Swimming in the open see is only possible between May and the end of September because there are dangerous stingers (jelly fishes). The other months there are stingernets to protect you while swimming in the sea. Mission Beach is about 150 km south of Cairns. The Bruce Highway from Cairns to the South is about 20 km land inwards. Between the coast and the highway is all protected rainforest. It is the only place in the world where the Casowary lives. In Wongaling Beach there is also a diving school and you can dive on the great Barrier Reef. Something about ourselves
We are Hans and Betteke and we live in Holland. Our eldest son lives in Australie near Brisbane and that is why we like to go sometimes to Australia. But we like to travel also to other countries. We love nature. Hans is an archivist and he is not working regular anymore but he does sometimes a project. I(Betteke) am studying psychology. We normaly travel with two of us but we like to have our other children as guests. That will make sometimes 4 or 6 of us.  marks the location of this home
