Description of our house

Our cottage is comfortable, clean, and cosy. It has a modern, well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and a recently renovated bathroom. The back deck which we both love to sit out on, with a glass of wine, overlooks a large fenced back yard that is private with a view of the mountains. We also have a bird feeder, that attracts beautiful exotic birds. We love spending time in our cottage and having friends over, it is air conditioned, so can be cooled in the summer and warmed in winter. Our home is also within walking distance to the town and local shopping centre.

We are situated in a small, charming, friendly, historic mining town that is nestled amongst hills and valleys. Gympie is approximately 1.5 hours north of Brisbane, the capital city of Queensland in Australia. By car we are close to access Fraser Island(the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef), the Glass House mountains and Sunshine Coast. From Gympie, there is so much to explore here, the beautiful Mary Valley, Kenilworth for world wide art and their gourmet cheese factory. The Sunshine Coast is almost as well known as the Gold Coast, with stunning beaches, sunshine and great night life. Rainbow Beach is pristine and untouched and still a best kept secret. You can apply for permits and camp right on the beach, nestled at the edge of the rainforest. Its one place where the rainforest goes to the sea. Tin Can Bay (approx half an hour away), has a beautiful marina where you can watch the dolphins being fed early each morning. Hervey Bay a couple of hours north, has whale watching tours in winter (June, July, August). We are biased, however Southern Queensland is a truly, beautiful part of Australia. It needs to be experienced and travelled to appreciate. Gympie is a great based area, out of the rat race of the capital city, yet reasonably close to all main attractions. We even qualify to be picked up and dropped back home by the local RSL bus for free. This club has a restaurant, gaming and live entertainment, including Bingo. ![]() Something about ourselves

Hello, this is Bob and Gay from Gympie in sunny Queensland, Australia. Bob is retired and has lived in Hawaii most of his life (some time in America for college) up until 7 years ago, when he moved to Australia. I am Australian and met and married Bob this year. I plan to retire from my job as Job Placement Officer a.s.a.p within the next year, so that we can both travel together. We are a very clean and tidy couple, non-smokers, with no pets. We love to pack picnics and go off touring and sight seeing for the day. We are sociable and friendly and due to Bob already having lived in three countries, we feel that exchanging of houses will be a welcome adventure at this time of our lives! With the use of our car, you can explore this beautiful part of the country, as only one can when you spend time in a place as a resident. I have two daughters in Australia, one lives in Townsville and the other lives on the Gold Coast. Bob has three children all currently living in North America, whom spent the majority of their lives growing up in Hawaii. So as you can see, we can go to a lot of places and still be accessible to family! ![]()
