Description of our house
We live surrounded by nature in our brick built Queenslander on the foot hills of Mount Spec. (a National Park). Our 50 acres of paradise has been left mainly natural with hundreds of native trees which attract a great array of wildlife, birds, butterflies, roos, etc. The land around the house is mainly lawn and contains the large swimming pool and down on a lower level we have a large orchard, mainly mangos, and a dam.
Our home has a 'wrap around' verandah which is accessed by large sliding French windows from all of the rooms. We spend most of our time on the verandah which has amazing views both scenic and of wildlife. We have just redesigned the kitchen but most days we cook and dine outside, our BBQ even cooks a roast dinner. All the rooms have cathedral ceilings which with the numerous sliding doors helps keep the house cool. There are 3 bedrooms the 2 main ones with new ensuites, an indoor dining area next to the kitchen and a large open plan living area. We love it here.

Our neighborhoodOur home is 90kms north of Townsville, the capital of north Queensland, and 30kms south of Ingham, a small and very friendly town with shops, banks, etc. The nearest international airport is Cairns, 3 hours drive to the north, but regular cheap flights to all parts of Australia are available from Townsville airport.
We are surrounded by National Parks with beautiful walks and numerous waterfalls.
The nearest beach, Balgal, is 15 minutes drive away with miles of nearly deserted sandy beach; it also has an eatery/general store.
From here it is also easy to access many wonderful places such as, Magnetic Island, Hinchinbrook Island, Mission Beach, Dunk Island, The Whit Sunday Passage and of course The Great Barrier Reef, to name just a few.

Something about ourselvesWe are Jenny and Colin McNeice both retired and have lived here for a year. We moved here from France where we lived for 13 years though I (Colin) ran a business in England for most of that time, I am a civil engineer. We lived in Australia for several years during the 1980s and decided to return after a wonderful motorhome holiday here in 2004. We both play league squash in Ingham, run, swim, ski, scuba dive and enjoy long walks.
We have 3 children, all independent now and 3 grandchildren all living in England.
We intend to visit numerous countries and to spend 6 to 8 weeks in England/Europe every 6 months or so to visit family and friends.
