Description of our house
Our twelve year old house is in a modern estate just a couple of kilometres from the world famous Gold Coast beaches and the Currumbin estuary. The house itself is very spacious with carpets in the bedrooms and lounge areas and cool tiles in the utility areas (kitchen, laundry, bathroom etc). There is a king size bed in the master bedroom with walk in robe and ensuite and there is a queen size and double bed in two of the other bedrooms. We have a computer with high speed Broadband internet access and printer set up in the fourth bedroom. There is a modern kitchen with facilities including new wall oven, ceramic cook top, dishwasher and fridge freezer. The laundry has a new washing machine, plenty of cupboard and bench space. The house is all electric. There is an in-ground, solar heated swimming pool (no maintenance required), nice gardens and just a little lawn. The temperature is very comfortable all year round (about 25 degrees celsius average). No need to pack jumpers, scarves or raincoats. Its still warm on the occasions that it does rain. The house is air conditioned and also has ceiling fans in several of the rooms. There is a large screen TV, DVD and satellite connection to Austar, the local satellite channel provider (access to about 70 channels). We have 2 cars (Holden Commodore and Toyota Hatchback), both automatics.

Our neighborhoodAs well as being located close to the best beaches in the world, we are placed at the foot of Currumbin Valley which offers lush tropical vegetation and spectacular mountain scenery. We are 1 kilometre from the border with New South Wales, in close proximity to Coolangatta Airport (soon to become a fully International airport), the twin towns of Coolangatta/Tweed Heads and a host of large, modern shopping centres. Surfers Paradise is 20 kilometres up the coast. The Gold Coast attracts millions of tourists each year, but our location at the southern end means the beaches are crowd free most of the time. The beaches are patrolled by Surf Lifesavers at weekends. If the surf is not your scene, the estuary provides protected swimming, fishing, boating, kayaking in a tranquil setting. Other attractions in the area are theme parks (Movieworld, Seaworld, Dreamworld, Wet & Wild etc), all within 30-40 minutes drive and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (just down the road 5 minutes drive). The street in which we live is wide, meaning there is a nice distance between neighbouring houses. The natives are friendly and respect our privacy. There is a small shopping centre 1 kilometre up the road (supermarket, doctor, chemist, butcher, hairdresser, various takeaway food stores and not forgetting the liquor store). Currumbin is regarded by many as the pick of the Gold Coast-it is quiet, undeveloped in comparison to Surfers Paradise with very few high rise buildings. Brisbane is 1 hours drive away

Something about ourselvesWe are Debbie and Tom, (48 & 56)and are interested in returning to England for an extended stay (2-3 months) through a house swap.We were there for 5 weeks in 2006, but left many areas unexplored so wish to rectify that. We are both working, but have jobs that provide flexibility regarding leave, so dates are not set and we can work in with prospective swappers. We are looking at 2009 as a potential year to make this happen, possibly from about March to June of that year but definitely negotiable on this.We have a passion for English china and are keen to attend antique fairs and auctions whilst in the UK.We have only one pet, a ten year old tortoise shell cat called Jasmine, who will require feeding but not much other maintenance. We have no problems with doing the same at the other end.We have the pool attended to once a month, so no maintenance required on your behalf. We are interested in hearing from any couple in a similar situation who would like some time in paradise. We would prefer a swap not involving young children as we have fragile items on display around the house. But are happy to respond to anyone with teenagers. We do have seven children between us, but they have all left the nest, leaving us free to follow our dreams. Please contact if you feel you match our swap criteria.
