Our home is located in the rural and university city of Armidale in the heart of New England Tablelands. Armidale is located on the Great Dividing Range approximately halfway between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway. As our altitude is at 1000 metres, our spring days are usually beautiful clear, warm days with lovely temperatures to sleep at night. Summers can be quiet warm, but we do not suffer from the humidity of other areas in the state. The area is known for its beef and wool production, and also uniquely for its education and cultural diversity. Armidale has the facilities of major centres including Airport and train connections to Sydney and Brisbane. Shopping, wine tasting, great restaurants are all close at hand. There are many magnificent gorges and National Parks to visit within the region, with many hiking trails from minutes to days. To the east of Armidale at Coffs Harbour (2 hrs) are located some of the State’s best beaches (great surfing, scuba diving, whale watching), and can be a great mini-break getaway. Other places handy to Armidale are Gold Coast, Qld (6 hrs), Tamworth Country Music Capital (1 hr), Moree (edge of the outback – hot artesian baths) (3 hrs). Armidale regularly has people’s markets with arts, crafts, food and entertainment. We think Armidale is the best place to live in Australia (having travelled quite a bit of the country), however, we are naturally biased. There is so much to do and see that we recommend you have a look at the Armidale Websites for all the information that is required.

We are a friendly family of 3. We love and care for our home and would do the same for your home. Phil (60 yrs) works for the local council as a Water Plant Technician. Linda (52 yrs) works for the NSW Government in Aged Care. We have a daughter Morgane (13 yrs). We are all keen to travel to England to visit Phil’s family roots around Devon and Exeter, and would also like to visit Scotland and France (Aix En Province). Linda is particularly interested in historical sites, buildings and architecture, and is a novice photographer. Phil’s hobbies include metal detecting and water sports. Morgane is a gymnast and loves to travel and visit new places. We all enjoy outdoor activities. We have never undertaken an exchange and as we are looking for an extended stay of 4-6 weeks we feel this is the best way to make the journey.
