Description of our house

The Cottage is totally self-contained and is attached to the main house across a 10m courtyard to the main house. We split our time between our flat in Sydney and the main house of our property in the country. We are both artists and have a studio and workshop at the property. It is very peaceful, rural and quiet, yet only 55kms from Sydney centre and we usually do the drive in just over an hour. The view is remarkable, looking out over the famous Hawkesbury River to the mountains beyond. The Cottage was built 2 years ago to a very high specification and has every facility. The two bedrooms each have an ensuite and queen beds, and there is a separate laundry, and spacious kitchen/dining/living combined. There is a queen sofa bed in the living area, but no separate bathroom, just the two en-suites. The bi-fold doors open out onto a raised, covered pavilion with a huge deck and barbeque overlooking the pool. We are set high on a hill and for that reason, and the fact that the pool is not fenced, we do not allow children as it really is not a good environment for them.

Our property is ideally located just 55 kms North of Sydney and 26 kms South of Gosford. It offers easy access to the Hunter Valley Wine Region of NSW and the wonderful Hawkesbury River area. There is an adventure park 15 minutes away where you can go horse riding, quad biking, kayaking etc. and a reptile park and wildflife Park all within 15 minutes of the property. Brooklyn village is 15 minutes away where there are several restaurants and you can catch the Post Boat which delivers post to the river communities of the Hawkesbury each weekday.The film The Oyster Catch was set there and the opening shot of the film was taken from our property. We are often used as a location shot for ads. The closest train is Brooklyn station or Gosford station, but you need a car to get to our property. Berowra Waters is close by with its excellent restaurant, Berowra Waters Inn, accessible by water access only and the drive down to the river is lovely. The beaches and fashionable coastal resorts of Avoca, Terrigal and Pearl Beach are 35 minutes away. Something about ourselves

We are British and moved to Australia 20 years ago on business when our children were 17months and 3 years old and we stayed! We split our time between our flat in Sydney and the property - the journey is very easy as about half is motorway and usually takes just over an hour. We are both artists, I mostly do sculpture and my husband is a painter. We both exhibit and have a studio and workshop at our property and a studio in Sydney.
