Fabulous Sydney is laid back and beautiful with exciting cultural life and fun outdoors activities. Sydney has great weather all year; mild in winter and warm in spring, summer and autumn. Sydney has festivals and special events in every season, so is a great place to visit year round.
Home is in the inner west of Sydney with wetland trails, bike tracks and parks and reserves, shops, kid-friendly pub (hotel) with friendly village atmosphere and quality bistro all within a couple of minutes walk. Also within walking distance are live music venues and the renowned Corcordia German Club for German beers on tap. There are also nearby playing fields, playgrounds, Cooks River, boating, water skiing, golf driving range, kid-friendly licensed clubs and market days.
We are in a wonderful location for public transport - the nearest bus stop is 2 minutes walk from which you can catch regular buses to central Sydney, eastern suburbs beaches or multicultural dining at nearby Marrickville. Tempe is also just 7mins on the bus to funky vibrant Newtown, Sydney's bustling 2km strip of pubs, clubs, cinema, theatres, restaurants, cafes, galleries, live music, fashion shops, antiques, markets, other unique shops and the wild, the wonderful and the weird! Our nearest train station is 10 minutes walk and trains to attractions around Circular Quay and Sydney Harbour are just a 15 minute train ride away.
You'll have an absolute ball staying in our pleasant comfortable house in the diverse and lively Inner West!

We are a couple, both in our 40's, a full-time public servant and a horticulturist, with two little boys aged 9 and 6. We love living in Tempe because it offers the best of both worlds; a friendly community for great family life and live music and pub culture nearby for when we get a babysitter. We have travelled extensively in the past and wish to do more now that our boys have matured to the point where this will be both possible and fun.
We have participated in 2 home exchanges (France and England)and love traveling this way. We like the fact that we get to experience the less touristy, more real life environment of someone's home, in a place we may have never thought about going to before. We also like the values home swappers share; trusting other people and sharing resources.
We would consider going anywhere at anytime. We've never been to Africa and Central or South America, so would love to go there. There are also parts of Europe, Asia and North America that we haven't been to, or would love to explore more, so we're open to destinations there as well. We also have a very close friend residing in NYC, so would love to go there at any time.
We have 2 young cats; Johnny and Bobby, who could be relocated for the duration of your stay or if you have pets we would be happy to look after them during the swap. Our neighbours are happy to feed the cats if you go on a short side trip. Oh yes, also, we're happy for you to use our automatic Toyota station-wagon while you're here as well.
