Balmain is a 10 minute trip from the centre of Sydney, and easily reached by bus or ferry. It is a lovely suburb, one of the oldest in Sydney, with many original sandstone buildings and hardly any highrise. It is on a peninsualr in the harbour, has many parks and offers great views of the city. It has a villagey feel, with very friendly people, some great shops and markets and many excellent cafes and restaurants.

There are two ferry services - one 5 and the other 10 minutes walk from the house. These run to Circular Quay (Opera House, Harbour Bridge, the Rocks), and Darling Harbour (aquarium and wildlife park, and 5 minutes walk to the city centre.) The ferry is a lovely way to travel and a real highlight of living in this area.

I would consider making my car available for exchange, but it is really not necessary for getting around the city. There are many great day trips within a 2 hour drive of Balmain - the Blue Mountains, with good bushwalking, the central coast, with beautiful beaches, and the southern highlands all worth visiting

I'm a lawyer and work at a financial services company in the city. I love travelling and get away whenever I can. I'm keen to do some travelling where I go somewhere and stay in one place for a while and really get into the local lifestyle.
